The hotel has excellent sea views and has joined the ranks of the world's finest resorts as a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Stone Town, with its winding streets, beautiful old palaces and colourful markets is a World Heritage Site.
The hotel is set in 2 historic seafront buildings that have been restored and integrated into a single property echoing the grandeur of days past. The interiors reflect Zanzibar's rich Arabic influence with intricately carved doors, colourful mosaic flooring and Persian rugs.
To keep you busy in the day the hotel offers an outdoor swimming pool, extensive watersports, round-the-island trips, scuba diving and snorkelling, as well as day-boat trips to nearby beaches and islands. You can visit Jozani Forest, which is home to many rare species, or the Serena-owned Mangapwani where you can relax on secluded beaches. Explore the spice gardens, including a visit to the Persian baths and the Sultan's palace, and finish with a beach barbecue and a visit to the dark caverns of the Mangapwani Slave Caves.
