The best photographs in any holiday album are undoubtedly those of the whole family. Apart from being able to teach your children about countries rich in history and cultural heritage, Africa can be fun for all.
Take the kids on an African safari, or to one of the many beautiful beaches our continent has to offer, for one of the best family vacations money can buy.
The Radisson Hotel is situated just outside of central Cape Town, ideal for tourists wanting to explore the Mother City more in depth. There are many ideal family activities awaiting guests at the V&A Waterfront, well within walking distance of the Radisson - the Aquarium, harbour access to Robben Island, the Scratch Patch and numerous restaurants and shops. The Cable Car to Table Mountain as well as most of Cape Town's glorious beaches are also easily accessible from this family-friendly hotel.
Set at the foot of the scenic Drakensberg Mountains, the Cathedral Peak Hotel is a family-owned, family-friendly establishment with friendly staff and unbeatable hospitality. Being slightly removed has its advantages, especially for children: loads of outdoor activities are available - horse riding, squash, tennis, volleyball, a swimming pool with a separate children's paddle pool are just a few. There is also a nine-hole golf course, helicopter trips, and an abundance of game and birds - truly something for everyone.
Robin's House is a charming African safari lodge on the edge of Nkwali Camp in the South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. This lodge is extremely private, offering guests exclusive use of private game rangers, chefs and valets. Meals are prepared and served as and when you choose, particularly handy should you have small children. There is an abundance of game, visible on privately guided morning or evening game drives, or more conveniently from the house overlooking the river where the animals come to drink. The lodge can accommodate up to five people, making it ideal for travelling families not wanting to impose on other guests.
Tintswalo Manor House is a traditional African thatch abode situated along a seasonal river bed amongst ancient sycamore trees and bordering the Kruger National Park. Overlooking a waterhole frequented by elephants and an abundance of other animals, game viewing is guaranteed from both the house itself, or on game drives. With minimal traffic and activities enough to keep the busiest body entertained, Tintswalo is ideal for families. There is an a la carte restaurant, and activities for the day are planned around its guests rather than scheduled.
Constructed from stone, thatch and timber, Loisaba Lodge is set high on the edge of the plateau looking out towards Mount Kenya.
