Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1

Transfer to the Moremi Wildlife Reserve

Arrive at Maun Airport and be transferred via a scenic air charter to Khwai River Lodge. This long-established lodge overlooks the animal-packed Khwai River floodplains and offers accommodation in luxury tents raised on wooden decks.

Cool off in the swimming pool while watching hippos snorting in the river, or spot animals and birds from the lodge's large viewing deck. Your private outside lounge is also a place where you can relax in a hammock and keep an eye out for wildlife.

Day 2

Spot hippos at Khwai River Lodge

After an early breakfast you'll head out on a game drive in search of the area's legendary wildlife - the Khwai River forms the boundary between the Moremi Game Reserve and the lodge's private concession and the game viewing is excellent all year round. Expect large numbers of buffalo, hippo and elephant, and since lion, leopard and wild dog are seen regularly in the area, there's always the chance of predator-prey interaction. The bird watching is sensational.

After a light lunch, spend the early afternoon at leisure or follow your guide as you take a nature walk along the wildlife-packed Khwai River. An afternoon game drive will leave after tea, usually returning to camp via a spotlit night drive.

After an active day you can enjoy a massage or beauty treatment at the in-house spa before indulging in a delicious dinner in the outside boma or in the covered dining area. For something different, visit a local village to learn more about local culture or do some amazing post-dinner stargazing.

Days 3-4

Welcome to Elephant Central

This morning you'll board a charter flight to Savute Elephant Lodge, set in the middle of the famous Chobe National Park, a 12 000 km conservation area that is home to Southern Africa's largest population of elephants.

Savute is serious big game country and famous for both its elephants and its dense concentration of predators - not least its large lion prides and hyena packs. Game drives in open safari vehicles are offered in the mornings and late afternoons, and the bird watching - especially in summer - is phenomenal. You don't even need to leave camp to get great game sightings. The lodge's busy waterhole can be viewed from the comfort of the pool or your private deck.

End an exciting day with a sundowner drink before sitting down for a delightful traditional dinner in the open-air boma.

Days 5-6

Explore the waterways at Eagle Island

Board a light aircraft for a scenic flight to romantic and secluded Eagle Island Lodge - situated in the Okavango Delta on the island of Xaxaba.

Your tent, shaded by a canopy of indigenous trees, has all the luxuries of modern accommodation plus glorious views of the surrounding lagoon and tranquil waterways of the Delta.

Early breakfasts at Eagle Island Lodge are usually followed by a game drive but there are other activities on offer too including mokoro (traditional canoe) and motorboat trips, fishing excursions and guided bird watching. The more adventurous can explore the area on foot led by experienced guides.

After your morning activity you can freshen up in the swimming pool before enjoying a light lunch and an afternoon nap. You'll have another safari activity after tea - many choose to unwind on a relaxing sunset cruise on the lagoon. And when the sun sets, make sure you visit the Fish Eagle Bar - voted the most romantic bar in the world by The New York Times - for that quintessential sundowner drink.

Day 7

Fly to Johannesburg

Fly back to Maun after breakfast - it's a very scenic flight from Eagle Island Lodge so keep your camera handy! From there, you'll catch a flight to Johannesburg for a night at the luxurious Fairlawns Boutique Hotel.

Day 8

Say goodbye to southern Africa

Say goodbye to southern Africa today after your night of comfort at the stunning Fairlawns Boutique Hotel. Transfer back to OR Tambo International Airport the final destination of your Botswana in Style adventure.
