Classic Zambia Walking Safari

Your adventure begins at Luangwa's Mfuwe International Airport where you'll be met and transferred to Nkwali Camp, your home for the following two nights. Overlooking the beautiful Luangwa River, this is the perfect place to start your walking safari. The camp offers an exclusive stay with only six rooms, each with stunning views of the river.

Enjoy your first afternoon game drive before sitting down for a delicious dinner. 

Tuck into a hearty breakfast around the campfire before boarding a boat and heading into the renowned South Luangwa National Park. Explore the park and look out for its abundant wildlife on an expertly-led game drive before heading back to camp at noon for lunch.

Spend a lazy afternoon relaxing in the pool or catching up on sleep before tea and your afternoon drive. After sunset drinks out in the bush, a spotlight appears and you'll soon be on the lookout for those elusive and fascinating nocturnal animals on a night drive. Return to the camp to a delicious alfresco dinner under the African stars.

Start your morning with an early breakfast before heading off on your walking safari, also known as 'The Wilderness Experience of the South Luangwa'. After driving through 90km of remote South Luangwa bush, you'll arrive at the pre-erected mobile camp. Settle into your well-equipped, walk-in tent before enjoying a delicious lunch.

Spend the afternoon at leisure or take a walk around the camp and do some bird watching. As the sun sets, enjoy a refreshing sundowner drink and dinner in the heart of the African bush, and plan the next few days ahead.

Over the next few days, you'll explore the remote, wild areas along the Mupamadzi River while walking approximately 10km per day. You'll be guided by an experienced naturalist and accompanied by an armed game scout.

A pre-erected mobile tent awaits you everyday after your walk. Here, you can relax after the day's exertions and reflect on the many facets of the bush you have discovered.

After breakfast, a 4 to 5-hour drive takes you to Luangwa crossing point. Board a 20-minute boat ride to Tena Tena, situated on a sweeping bend of the Luangwa River. This camp offers you a luxury tent complete with open-air bathroom.

Rest your weary legs and enjoy lunch before embarking on an afternoon game drive. A lovely dinner under the huge mahogany tree in the centre of the camp is a sublime way to end the day.

Look forward to 2 days spent viewing game at the Buca Buca lagoon and visiting the nearby local village.

There's also an opportunity for an all-day picnic and a drive to the salt pans in the Nsefu Sector.

A 90-minute transfer will take you to the Mfuwe Airport in time for your flight to Lusaka and onwards.
