Day to Day Itinerary

Days 1-2

Feel rejuvenated at Samara

On arrival at Port Elizabeth, transfer to the Samara Private Game Reserve in the Great Karoo. This 70 000 hectare conservation area comprises four of South Africa's seven biomes and therefore offers a rich and varied game viewing and botanical experience.

You also have the chance to see fossils that pre-date the dinosaurs as well as ancient San Bushman paintings.

Samara Private Game Reserve plays an important role in cheetah conservation: there is a highly successful cheetah conservation programme in place and since the cheetahs at Samara are free from competition from other predators such as lion and hyena, they thrive in this habitat which makes for wonderful photographic opportunities.

Day 3-5

Visit the Carnivore Research Programme

After your stay at Samara, transfer by road to Kwandwe Great Fish River Lodge and continue your safari adventure at the Kwandwe Private Game Reserve where you'll enjoy game drives in search of the Big 5 -  lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo.

Select a day to go on a guided tour of Kwandwe to learn about the fascinating world of carnivores and predators such as the African wild dog and cheetah.

While at Kwandwe, take the opportunity to learn about the history and culture of the area: the Frontiers @ Kwandwe tour is led by resident historian Alan Weyer and delves into the Eastern Cape's rich and often turbulent past.

Day 6

Get a good night's rest in Port Elizabeth

Transfer back to Port Elizabeth for one last night at The Windemere Hotel. With all the early morning wake-ups you've been getting on safari, you may well welcome an early night on your last night before heading home.

Day 7
