Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Maun

Your unique Southern African safari begins as you arrive at Maun Airport in Botswana. On your arrival you catch a charter flight to child-friendly San Camp, a luxury tented camp located on the Makgadikgadi Pans in the Kalahari Desert.

Days 2-3

Explore the vast pans of the Makgadikgadi

The following two days are dedicated to exploring the mysterious Makgadikgadi Pans. Head out on a game drive through the rolling grasslands that surround the vast salt pans or get a closer look on a bird-watching walk. There is far more wildlife - including lion, springbok, cheetah and giraffe - in the area than you might imagine and in the rainy summer months there is even more: local zebra and wildebeest migrations add to the drama, and the bird watching is phenomenal.

Depending on the rainfall that year, you may get the thrilling opportunity to roar across the Makgadikgadi Pans on adventuresome quad bikes (ATVs), a truly exhilarating experience.

Another rewarding activity is to join expert San Bushman trackers on a highly informative excursion to learn how the indigenous San people survive in this challenging landscape. In the evening, more adventure awaits as you go on a night drive to spot the Kalahari's shy nocturnal animals such as the brown hyena, porcupine, aardwolf and aardvark.

Day 4

Travel into the Delta

Depart from Makgadikgadi and fly back to Maun. Here you catch a chartered flight to Xudum Tented Camp, located in the Okavango Delta - a completely different landscape altogether and a fantastic contrast to the Kalahari Desert.

Days 5-6

Discover the Okavango Delta

Situated on the western edge of the world's biggest inland delta, Xudum Tented Camp offers a stylish and intimate hideaway that delivers excellent wildlife viewing.

Explore this unique ecosystem by setting out on foot with a professional guide in search of big game and the prolific birdlife. For a more traditional experience, and the chance to enjoy water-based game viewing, embark on a mokoro (dug-out canoe) trip through the intricate waterways of the Delta.

After enjoying dinner at camp, head out on a spotlit night drive, keeping a constant lookout for some of Botswana's nocturnal mammals and birds. Return to camp and sleep on your rooftop platform under the stars and listening to the sounds of the surrounding wilderness.

Day 7

Arrive in Chobe

Depart from the Okavango Delta today and fly north to the small town of Kasane where you transfer to the luxurious Chobe Under Canvas camp, which is surrounded by the natural wonders of the Chobe National Park and has activities suitable for over 12s.

During your stay at Chobe Under Canvas, expert guides will take you on exciting morning and afternoon game drives in specially modified safari vehicles that ensure uninterrupted views of the Chobe River floodplains and woodlands. There are also opportunities for guided bush walks where you will learn more about this extraordinarily rich and diverse wildife destination.

Days 8-9

Enjoy life on the Chobe River

Get up early and enjoy a delicious light breakfast and coffee before you head out on an excursion. You can either go on a fishing trip, a bird-watching expedition or a motorboat safari down the river, scanning its forested banks for animals that come down to drink from the river and graze on its extensive floodplains.

Head into Botswana's legendary Chobe National Park via tender boat and enjoy a 4x4 game drive in search of the area's famous big herds of elephant and buffalo before returning to Chobe Under Canvas to relax and enjoy the views.

Spend your late afternoon enjoying a leisurely high tea and a game drive, followed by a gourmet dinner.

Day 10

Arrive at the Zambezi River

Leave majestic Chobe Under Canvas behind and transfer to the Zambian border and on to Livingstone where you arrive at the elegant Tongabezi Treehouse, situated on the wooded banks of the Zambezi River.

Day 11

Relax in style at Tongabezi

Enjoy the calm and luxurious nature of Tongabezi, a uniquely designed lodge where the branches and trunks of mighty forest trees have literally been incorporated into each suite.

Spend your time kicking back in the lounge and beside the swimming pool or enjoy a tour of laidback Livingstone's museums and nearby Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park. From camp, it's only a short trip to Victoria Falls.

Be spoilt by excellent service as you enjoy a refreshing drink and take in the excellent views of the Zambezi River as you relax in total luxury.

Day 12

Travel to Chongwe River Camp

This morning you will transfer to Livingstone airport where you catch your scheduled flight to the Lower Zambezi River via the capital city of Lusaka. Arrive at Chongwe River Camp, where you stay in the deluxe Albida Suite for the following three nights.

Days 13-14

Stay in a private sanctuary at Chongwe

Situated in an area where elephant are more numerous than people, Chongwe River Camp is set on the borders of the Lower Zambezi National Park in an area teeming with wildlife. And with over 250 species of birds recorded in the immediate area, Chongwe is also a bird lover's paradise.

Go on open 4x4 game drives or take a thrilling canoe safari along the Zambezi. You could also find a quiet spot on the river bank and try your hand at tiger-fish angling or you can merely sit back and enjoy the surroundings with a drink in hand.

Relax and enjoy stunning views of the river as you cool off in the pool or sit back in the outside lounge while the sunset turns the skies orange.
