Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome to Cape Town

On arrival at Cape Town International Airport you are transferred privately to the landmark Table Bay Hotel in the Mother City’s popular V&A Waterfront. This grand hotel offers breath-taking views of the working harbour, glistening Atlantic and Table Mountain. Its Waterfront location puts you in close proximity to fine-dining restaurants, boutique shopping and a myriad of entertainment options. A complimentary shuttle service provides transport between the hotel and the city’s major attractions.

Open your suite’s curtains to ships sailing across the Atlantic and anchoring in the harbour with iconic Table Mountain as the majestic backdrop, then enjoy breakfast served in a cosy nook of the Conservatory. The salt-water swimming pool makes a comfortable place to while away a sunny afternoon while a fully-equipped gym and the Camelot Health Spa offer a full range of exercise and treatment options.

The Table Bay boasts several top restaurants that each offer a distinctive dining experience and ambience. High tea served in the lounge each day is a decadent affair where guests might struggle to choose between a tempting assortment of sweet and savoury treats. If you want to spend the afternoon exploring Cape Town, the hotel staff will happily pack a picnic basket for you to take along.

Days 2

Set out for the Peninsula

After breakfast you are collected for a full-day Cape Highlights Tour that spans the gorgeous beaches and charming coastal villages along the peninsula to the famous headland of Cape Point. Wind your way along Chapman’s Peak – one of the world’s most breathtaking coastal drives – and marvel at the indigenous fynbos, lighthouses and historic shipwrecks that characterise the Cape of Good Hope.

Day 3

Take in wine country

After breakfast you set off for a half-day Cape Winelands Tour that winds its way through the verdant vineyards and 18th century Cape Dutch homesteads of this world-famous wine-growing region. You are spoilt for choice with such a huge variety of wine estates on offer and visit two of the finest producers for tastings.

Day 4

All that Cape Town has to offer

Enjoy a day in the Mother City: head to the Two Oceans Aquarium, Robben Island, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden or Table Mountain. Or hit the Blue Flag beach at Camps Bay before ending with a sunset cruise, toasting Cape Town with a flute of bubbly.

Days 5-8

The magic of Sun City

This morning you board a flight to Johannesburg from where you are privately chauffeured to The Palace of the Lost City – a 5-star hotel within Sun City. This fairytale African palace towering over a scenic valley is surrounded by lush gardens with trickling waterfalls and hidden walking trails. Its design was conceived from the ruins of a mythical ancient African tribe who ruled the surrounding Pilanesberg mountains. From the moment you set foot into the lobby, the intricate sky-high ceiling, mosaic artworks and golden zebra-hide furniture set a precedent for sophistication befitting royalty.

Close to the hotel is the Valley of the Waves, which comprises a sandy beach and wave pool for swimming with waterslides for the young at heart to enjoy. Golfers have their pick of two championship courses and the health spa is a sanctuary designed to melt your stress away.

The Grand Pool at the Palace might be the most exquisite you will ever see. Aside from sunbathing and swimming exclusive to Palace guests, you can enjoy light meals and drinks while relaxing around the tranquil water. With floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lush gardens and its grand fountains, the Crystal Court is a suitably regal place to enjoy afternoon High Tea, and the lavish 5-course dinners are accompanied by an impressive list of international wines. Hand-carved teak tusks create three archways in the Tusk Lounge where you can enjoy a cognac and cigar between dinner and retiring to your extravagant suite.

Days 9-12

The Smoke that Thunders

After checking out of The Palace of the Lost City you are chauffeured back to OR Tambo to board your flight to Livingstone in Zambia, where you are met and transferred to the Royal Livingstone Hotel. Stretching along the banks of the Zambezi River overlooking the glorious cascade of Victoria Falls, this grand old dame exudes the charm and elegance of a bygone era. The plush hotel not only boasts an enviable view of and private access to the spray of the Falls but its immaculate grounds are home an array of wildlife like zebras and antelopes that can be photographed from the comfort of your suite. Guided 4x4 game drives in the surrounding national park are easily arranged by your concierge as are a host of other activities such as boat cruises and white-water rafting on the Zambezi River.

Your romantic suite is adjoined by a verandah that has stunning river views and its gleaming en suite bathroom features a claw-foot tub. Survey the sprawling lawns from the furnished terrace or walk the pathway through the rainforest along the riverbank from where you can see the broad flow of the Zambezi plummet over the precipice into the deep gorge below. In-house beauty therapists offer a full range of pampering – at the spa or in the privacy of your suite – and you also have access to two gyms. Enjoy a chilled glass of Pimm’s on the waterside terrace before savouring perfectly-cooked Zambezi bream and sinking into the percale linen of your king-sized bed.
