Explore South Africa's three most famous cities - Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg - on this 12-day, multi activity family holiday.

Begin in Cape Town where you can suntan on white sandy beaches, explore the delights of the ever-popular V&A Waterfront, picnic with penguins and enjoy some of the best views in the country from the top of Table Mountain.

Then fly to Johannesburg where you'll visit the best attractions in and around the City of Gold before arriving in Durban and enjoy a classic seaside holiday on the warm Indian Ocean coast at Umhlanga Rocks, the KwaZulu Natal holiday destination of choice for many locals.

Children are especially made to feel welcome on this tour: trips to aquariums, theme parks and sandy beaches are sure to delight the young and the young-at-heart.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1

Fly to 'The Mother City'

Begin your adventure with a flight from Johannesburg to the cosmopolitan city of Cape Town, known to the locals as The Mother City. Once there, you'll transfer from the airport to the luxurious Mount Nelson Hotel for four nights.

The Mount Nelson Hotel, with its scenic views of Table Mountain, is situated just a short drive away from Greenmarket Square, the Table Mountain cable car and the white sandy beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay. The rest of the day will be yours to settle in and begin exploring this fantastic and multi-faceted city.

Days 2-4

Discover the highlights of Cape Town

Spend the next three days exploring Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula with excursions to historic Robben Island, the famed Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, the penguin colony at Boulders Beach, and the Cape Winelands. You can't miss Table Mountain, so take an afternoon cable car up Table Mountain to catch a spectacular sunset over the Atlantic Ocean.

There are many opportunities for family fun in Cape Town: Ratanga Junction is a big-ride theme park while the variety of family-friendly attractions at the V&A Waterfront will please everyone. Visit the underwater world at the superb Two Oceans Aquarium, wander the long rows of shops, and get an aerial view of the city via a helicopter ride over the peninsula.

There are also plenty of museums in the city centre for an insight into the history, geography, and culture of this fascinating city and country.

Day 5

Fly to the City of Gold

Leave Table Mountain behind as you fly to Johannesburg - the City of Gold. Once there, you'll be transferred from the airport to the city's leafy northern suburbs near Sandton.

Days 6-7

Shop in style at the City of Gold

Spend the next two days at the luxurious Westcliff Hotel exploring Johannesburg and enjoying the hotel's fantastic facilities for kids.

Westcliff Hotel is situated on a hillside with beautiful views over the city's upmarket northern suburbs, and is just a short drive from the world-class Sandton Shopping Centre. With heated swimming pools, tennis courts and a spa, Westcliff is a very comfortable base from which to explore the region.

Your kids will be well cared for at Westcliff as everything from treats to toys and children's movies are available, and meals won't be a problem either - the hotel has a specially designed children's menu.

Explore Johannesburg with trips to the nearby Johannesburg Zoo and Gold Reef City, a visit to Kyalami to see the Lipizzaner horses, or simply go shopping at some of the exclusive nearby malls with their long lists of restaurants, boutiques and coffee shops.

Day 8

Arrive in popular Umhlanga Rocks

Leave Johannesburg behind as you transfer back to the airport after breakfast to catch a flight to the bustling port city of Durban. Take a short transfer from Durban Airport to the popular holiday spot on the KwaZulu Natal north coast - Umhlanga Rocks.

Spend your last four nights at The Oyster Box Hotel, boasting an exceptional beachfront location and superb views of the Indian Ocean.

Days 9-11

Rest at The Oyster Box Hotel

The Oyster Box Hotel is an elegant colonial hotel with a reputation for its relaxed and friendly staff, beautiful beach views and its proximity to Umhlanga Village.

Head out early to the beach and spend your morning wandering along the shoreline, swimming and building sandcastles with your children. Enjoy a dip in the hotel pool after lunch or get active with deep-sea fishing trips, rounds of golf or horse rides along the beach.

You can also play a game of tennis on the hotel courts or arrange a trip into Durban - the kids will love uShaka Marine World, a massive marine theme park and oceanarium.

Day 12

End your holiday in Durban

Transfer to the airport after breakfast where your family adventure ends upon arrival.
