Arrive at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and collect your rental car. You will then make your way to Sun City - about a three-hour drive - where you will be spending your first three nights at The Cabanas, an friendly, amenity-packed hotel that has long catered for families.

Madikwe is situated in Kalahari country adjacent to the Botswana border and is not only one of South Africa's largest game reserves but a prime Big 5 destination. It also lies outside the malaria belt so you can have a worry-free safari with your children.

Begin your three night Madikwe stay at Motswiri Private Safari Lodge where you will enjoy morning and afternoon game drives with experienced and knowledgeable guides. After sundowner drinks, your guide will use a spotlight on the way back to camp to spot the area's nocturnal creatures.
