Day to Day Itinerary

Days 1-2

Relax on the Hartford House Estate

Collect your rental vehicle on arrival at Durban Airport and drive north to Mooi River in KwaZulu Natal. Make your way to Hartford House and the nearby Summerhill stud farm, located deep in this gently rolling and leafy landscape.

Spend the afternoon strolling through this beautiful estate and planning the next day's activities. This area offers a variety of outdoor pursuits that includes horse riding excursions, trout fishing and scenic walks. Pamper yourself at the wellness centre and enjoy the unhurried pace of this peaceful setting.

Book a seat at the award-winning restaurant: breakfast, lunch and dinner are served overlooking the magnificent landscaped gardens or in the candlelit dining hall with Zulu dancers and singers performing for your entertainment.

Days 3-5

Enjoy relaxation in Midlands

Enjoy a final breakfast at Hartford House before making your way to Fordoun Spa, Hotel and Restaurant in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands. Relax in the authentic and charming nature of an 1800s farmhouse which has been fully renovated and boasts style, luxury and lavish spa facilities.

Go on long walks around the expansive grounds or visit the herb garden and Dr Elliot Ndlovu, the resident herbalist who specialises in spiritual and medicinal healing. There are also plenty of outdoor activities to choose from including horse rides, hot-air balloon excursions, mountain biking and fly-fishing.

Days 6-9

Big 5 Game viewing in Phinda

After a hearty breakfast head to Phinda Vlei Lodge, a small, intimate lodge that overlooks a teeming wetland - Phinda Vlei - in the northern section of the extraordinary Phinda Resource Reserve. It's a private and very exclusive reserve and you'll enjoy a wide variety of activities that offer the perfect opportunity for you to see wildlife on your doorstep.

Go on game drives with experienced rangers, guided nature walks and bird watching trips - the reserve has the Big 5 as well as a bird count of no fewer than 410 species - or visit local communities to experience Zulu culture. Laze around the swimming pool during the heat of the day and enjoy delicious Pan-African cuisine in the evenings.

Day 10

Bid farewell to Kwazulu Natal
