Experience the wonder of being up-close to free-roaming mountain gorillas on this exciting 4-day Ugandan gorilla trek.

Travel through Lake Mburo National Park, where you may see indigenous wildlife such as the topi, bushpig, waterbuck and buffalo. Continue onwards to the renowned Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, and trek through the rain forest in search of the gentle mountain gorillas hidden in the thick undergrowth.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1

See the wildlife of Lake Mburu

Depart Kampala in the early morning and travel to the beautiful Lake Mburo National Park and onto the peaceful and secluded Mihingo Lodge. Look out for some of the indigenous wildlife such as topi, impala, warthog and buffalo as you drive through the park. Enjoy a boat ride after lunch on the lake or head out on a game drive.

Day 2

Travel to the Bwindi National Park

Wake up early for a guided bush walk along some of the trails near the Mihingo Lodge. After breakfast make your way to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park past traditional Ugandan homesteads and breathtaking scenery. Spend the day exploring Bwindi, stopping along the way for a picnic lunch. Spend the next 2 nights at Buhoma Lodge.

Day 3

Track the mountain gorillas

Today you will hike through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in search of the gentle mountain gorillas. Expect to walk a long distance in muddy conditions as you search for a family of gorillas. It will all be worthwhile though when you watch the gorillas eat, play and rest. Observing these creatures in their natural environment from close quarters is a truly unique experience.

Day 4

Return to Kampala

After breakfast, depart the Bwindi forests for Kampala, the nation's capital. As you make your way to Kampala, you’ll cross the Equator – a great photo opportunity!
