Best of Zambia Sanctuary Safari

After arriving in Lusaka, board a scheduled air transfer to Mfuwe where an open game-drive vehicle will transfer you to Puku Ridge Safari Game Lodge. Passing through local villages, this road transfer takes approximately two hours and you'll need to keep your eyes open for wildlife as you transverse a section of the South Luangwa National Park on the way to the lodge.

Situated in Zambia's flagship South Luangwa National Park, Puku Ridge Safari Game Lodge is set in a dramatic landscape and is world famous for its magnificent wildlife.

During your stay here choose from various safari activities: morning and afternoon game drives are offered as are guided bush walks and night game drives, and the bird watching is excellent. The park is home to about 60 different mammal species - including all the large predators - and an incredible 400 different bird species. The only notable exclusion is the rhino.

Transfer back to the Mfuwe Airport for your light aircraft flight to the Lower Zambezi. From here you will be transferred to a remote part of the Lower Zambezi National Park and Sausage Tree Camp.

This diverse park includes both water and land habitats and is home to healthy populations of buffalo, lion, leopard, crocodile and hippo plus many antelope species but particularly impressive are its enormous herds of elephant. Groups up to 100 strong are often seen gathered on the Zambezi's banks, ready to drink, bathe and play.

Game drives, walking safaris, boating and canoeing trips are exciting safari activities offered at Sausage Tree Camp but one of the Lower Zambezi's biggest attractions is its population of tiger fish. Reputed to be one of the fiercest of all game fish and legendary for putting up a fight when hooked, these monsters will test any fisherman's mettle.

A boat transfer takes you back to the airstrip where a light aircraft takes you the rest of the way to Livingstone, via Lusaka. You'll be met on arrival in Livingstone and transferred to the stunning Sussi and Chuma Safari Game Lodge on the banks of the Zambezi River. Spend the next two nights in a luxurious treehouse on an all-inclusive basis.
