Set off on a four-day safari in one of Africa's top wildlife destinations: Zambia. You'll enjoy fantastic game viewing opportunities in the South Luangwa National Park, a legendary big game destination and home to a wide range of classic African animals such as lion, leopard, elephant and hippo.

You'll be staying at Puku Ridge, a safari lodge named after the water-loving puku antelope that is common in the area. The lodge is perched on a rocky ridge and boasts exceptional views over the river valley which makes for a great place to relax at in between your game drives or walking safaris.

It's a short but intensive wildlife safari and we'd suggest adding on a few days at thundering Victoria Falls or perhaps extending your safari into Zimbabwe or Botswana - just ask us how.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1

Catch a flight to Mfuwe

From Lusaka International Airport you will board your short flight to Mfuwe Airstrip. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to Puku Ridge Tented Camp. This transfer is approximately two hours long and passes through local villages and the South Luangwa National Park, giving you a chance to do some early game viewing.

Check in and relax on your private balcony, which offers great views of the floodplains below. If there's time, you could head out on your first game drive.

Days 2-3

Explore the South Luangwa

The next two full days will be spent on a thorough exploration of the South Luangwa National Park from your base at Puku Ridge, a small and intimate camp tucked away in a remote part of the park.

Enjoy morning, afternoon and early evening game drives in open-sided safari vehicles as well as expertly guided nature walks, keeping an eye out for the area's signature species - elephant, lion, leopard, wild dog, buffalo hippo and giraffe. The bird watching is amazing, and the night drives provide the opportunity to spot some of Luangwa's nocturnal creatures.

Cool off during the heat of the day in the lodge's pool and build up an appetite for dinner: a wide range of cuisine is served at Puku Ridge, blending local ingredients with international flavours. Meals are served outdoors whenever possible, so you can enjoy dining under the African sky.
