Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1

Begin your adventure in Kigali

Arrive in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, and transfer into the town centre for a delicious lunch before setting off through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterise much of Rwanda's landscape. Make your way to the base of the Virunga Volcanoes and the Volcanoes Virungas Lodge.

Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing at the lodge, go for a short hike around the property, or visit the famous conservationist Dian Fossey's grave.

Day 2

Go gorilla trekking

An early start takes you to the district of Kinigi to track the impressive mountain gorillas in the Parc National des Volcans. The journey north goes through the fertile landscape of the park as you gradually climb to the base of the towering volcanoes.

Tracking the gorillas through the forest requires patience and stamina, sometimes walking for a few hours in the mud and wet, but the effort is well rewarded when you come across these gentle creatures in their natural habitat.

Day 3

Explore the volcanoes

This morning, head out on another gorilla tracking excursion in the Parc National des Volcans (on payment of supplement at time of booking), climb the Visoke Volcano, trek to Dianne Fossey’s Karisoke Research Centre, or simply relax at camp.

Day 4

Return to Kigali

Say goodbye to the Parc National des Volcans as you leave for Kigali. Choose to experience a tour of the city, including a visit to the market, the Franco-Rwandan cultural centre, and the genocide memorial, before transferring to the airport for your outbound flight.
