Garden Route Meander

Arrive in the seaside town of George where you will collect your rental car and drive the short distance to the small town of Knysna. Spend two nights at Leisure Isle Lodge, overlooking the beautiful Knysna Lagoon, and spend your time exploring the town and visiting the beaches.

Go on excursion to Monkeyland, a stunning primate sanctuary in a nearby forest, and the adjacent Birds of Eden, a haven for a wide range of birds. The more adventurous might enjoy abseiling down the rocky Knysna heads. In the evening, stroll around town and choose from one of the many restaurants. Knysna is particularly well known for its excellent seafood and, most notably, its oysters.

Enjoy a short drive from Knysna to the seaside town of Plettenberg Bay, a small holiday town that is alive with fantastic restaurants, a variety of shops, and an energetic, social atmosphere.

Spend the following two nights at the Southern Cross Beach House. Set on one of the town's beautiful white beaches - Robberg Beach - you'll enjoy spectacular sea views in this charming colonial-styled accommodation. Spend your time exploring the town, lounging on the beautiful beaches and going on whale and dolphin-spotting tours.

Leave Plettenberg Bay and continue on to Port Elizabeth, a major seaport and tourist destination, known for its sunshine, safe sandy beaches, and thriving nightlife. Spend the night at The Windemere, where you'll be just a short walk from the Blue Flag status Kings Beach, the stunning Mc Arthur's Pools, and some of the city's finest restaurants. Pay a visit to the Boardwalk Casino to try your luck or to enjoy a delicious meal.

From Port Elizabeth you will enjoy a scenic drive deeper into the Eastern Cape to the Kwandwe Private Reserve. You'll be staying at the trendy, modern Kwandwe Ecca Lodge for the last four nights of your journey.

Spend your days exploring this excellent reserve on game drives, keeping a special lookout for South Africa's rare and endangered national bird - the blue crane. Relax in the lodge's pool where you'll enjoy spectacular views over the lush valley. Take a day trip to the vibrant and cultural Grahamstown and return to your lodge for a delicious meal under the stars.

Your tour comes to an end today as you make your way back to Port Elizabeth where you will continue with your onward travel arrangements.
