This 11-day, self-drive holiday takes you from cosmopolitan Cape Town to the scenic Garden Route and then all the way to Eastern Cape for a big game safari in Addo Elephant National Park.

Begin your trip in the spectacular city of Cape Town and explore the many attractions that the Mother City has to offer. View the city from above on a Table Mountain hike, shop at the ever-popular V&A Waterfront, or enjoy the atmosphere of the stunning city beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay.

From here you'll head to the Breede River and picturesque wine country to take part in a variety of actvities before travelling to Robberg Beach in Plettenberg Bay, set at the heart of the Garden Route.

After soaking up the sun on the beach, drive to Addo Elephant National Park in the Eastern Cape for big game encounters and exciting spotlit night drives.

Day to Day Itinerary

Days 1-3

Take a ride up Table Mountain

After your arrival at Cape Town airport, collect your hire car and drive to Walden House, a quaint Victorian home set at the foot of Table Mountain in the fashionable city suburb of Tamboerskloof.

Spend the next three days exploring all that the Mother City has to offer. Take the cable car or hike up Table Mountain, go wine tasting in the Cape Winelands, or take a slow stroll on beautiful Camps Bay beach. Wander through the V&A Waterfront to do some shopping, catch up on emails with a coffee or dine at one of its fine restaurants.

Days 4-5

Enjoy local wines

Leave Cape Town and enjoy a scenic drive to the Breede River, stopping at Excelsior Wine Estate to enjoy the next two nights at the estate's charming Manor House. Excelsior's award-winning wines have had success both locally and internationally, and can be sampled at the estate's six tasting facilities - all within walking distance of your elegant accommodation.

Days 6-7

Unwind on Robberg Beach

Say goodbye to the Breede River and take a slow drive along the ever-scenic garden Route to beautiful Robberg Beach in Plettenberg Bay. Here you'll spend two nights at the charming Cottage Pie Guest House, situated just minutes away from the beach, and the perfect base from which to explore this diverse and activity-packed region.

Cottage Pie is also close to Plettenberg Bay's vibrant centre, giving its guests easy access to the town's many restaurants, bars, art galleries and coffee shops.

Days 8-10

Enjoy personalised game drives in Addo

Leave Plettenberg Bay after breakfast and travel further along the Garden Route and into the Eastern Cape to Addo Elephant National Park for three nights at the luxurious River Bend Country Lodge. Watch herds of elephants feeding nearby and listen to the birdsong that fills the air: some 250 or so species have been recorded here.  

Enjoy personalised game drives in search of big game, track animals on foot or go on go on one of the cultural and historical excursions in the area. Pamper yourself with a massage or treatment at the River Bend Vitality Studio while your kids learn to bake cookies or head out with a guide and learn about astronomy in the evenings.

Day 11

Heading for home

Drive yourself to Port Elizabeth Airport where you'll drop off your rental car and begin your travels for home.
