Affordable Garden Route Safari

Fly into George Airport, located just outside the Garden Route town of George, and collect your rental car. Buckle up and take a two-hour scenic drive along the national road to Plettenberg Bay via the towns of Wilderness and Knysna.

With plenty of sunshine, fantastic swimming beaches, numerous nature reserves and many outdoor activities in the area, Plettenberg Bay makes for an ideal base to explore the Garden Route. Today you'll set off after breakfast to travel further along the Garden Route and into the Eastern Cape for your next destination: Kariega Private Game Reserve.

Here you will spend your last three nights on safari at Kariega River Lodge, situated on the banks of the meandering Bushmans River. Kariega is rich in both birdlife and big game and is home to the famous Big 5 - it also sits in a malaria-free area so you don't have to worry about bringing young children on safari.

You have the rest of today and the next two full days to enjoy morning and afternoon game drives as well as river cruises, birding excursions, hiking trails and mountain bike game rides.

After breakfast you'll leave Kariega Game Reserve and drive to Port Elizabeth where your self-drive Garden Route safari comes to an end; return your car to the airport and connect with your onward arrangements.
