Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Tanzania

Your luxury safari begins today as you fly to Tanzania. From the airport you will be transferred to Arusha - often called the safari capital of East Africa as this is where many safari expeditions kick off.

Arrive at Arusha Coffee Lodge, a luxurious lodge set in the heart of green coffee plantations and known for its delicious patisserie and coffee treats. Wind down with a swim in the pool, browse one of the little boutiques, or simply relax and enjoy a glass of wine under the Tanzanian stars in the evening.

Days 2-3

Discover Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you'll be transferred to Oliver's Camp, a traditional safari camp situated in the heart of the remote south-eastern section of the Tarangire National Park.

Spend the following two days enjoying a range of bush excursions, including game drives and nature walks. Look out for the large elephant herds, resident lion prides and the park's trademark baobab trees. Learn about how the animals always return here even when it may seem completely dry, to scratch for water beneath the dry river beds.

Your time in Tarangire is sure to be memorable as Oliver's is renowned for its exclusivity and high standards of service.

Days 4-5

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater

Today you'll transfer from Oliver's Camp to Plantation Lodge, a beautifully restored old-European house situated near the high-lying town of Karatu. Enjoy a delicious lunch before heading into the beautiful Lake Manyara National Park where you can see the incredible gathering of thousands of pink flamingos that come to feed on the lake shore.

The following day you'll descend into the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater, a wildlife conservancy with one of the highest concentrations and variety of game in Africa. Here you'll have a good chance to see all the members of the Big 5. Return in the evening for sundowners and to watch the sun set over Hemingway's 'Green Hills of Africa'.

Days 6-7

Traverse the Serengeti

This morning you'll be transferred back to the airstrip for a scheduled flight to Olakira Camp, situated in the heart of the vast Serengeti. This mobile tented camp moves through the Serengeti, relocating according to the annual Great Migration, ensuring optimal game viewing during all seasons.

Enjoy some spectacular game drives across these sprawling savannahs. Search for the animals you haven't yet seen and, if you visit during the time of the migration, you'll see thousands upon thousands of wildebeest as they cross the Mara River to more fertile lands.

Spend the hottest part of the day relaxing at camp, lounging in your tent or out in the shade. A definite recommendation for a visit to Olakira is a hot-air balloon flight to truly grasp the vastness of the beautiful plains.

Days 8-9

See more of the Serengeti

Today you'll be transferred from Olakira to Sayari Camp - a mobile tented camp. Sayari is situated in the northern Serengeti, on the border of the National Park, giving you a different perspective of this region.

Enjoy more thrilling game drives and nature walks, as well as an optional picnic lunch in a scenic, isolated location, far removed from the other safari-goers. Once again you'll get the opportunity to see the Great Migration, although this region offers incredible wildlife-viewing all year round.

Days 10-13

Enjoy life on Zanzibar

Today you will leave the national parks of Tanzania behind as you head to Kogatenda, where you'll catch a flight to the exotic Spice Island of Zanzibar. On arrival, you'll be met and transferred to Matemwe Main Lodge, a peaceful and idyllic retreat located near Kigomani on Zanzibar's north-east coast. Settle in and drink in the incredible location, your home for the following three nights.

These days are yours to spend at leisure, enjoying all the amenities offered at the resort or merely lazing around on the beautiful beaches and swimming in the warm Indian Ocean. To see what life is like beneath the surface, you can enjoy snorkelling or scuba diving in the coral reefs. Take a traditional dhow cruise, a day trip to historic Stone Town, or a spice tour, and perhaps even a visit to Prison Island to see its giant tortoises.

Day 14

Leave exotic Zanzibar behind

Today you will leave the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar behind and transfer back to the airport where you'll board your outbound flight.
