Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in the Mother City

Arrive to a warm welcome at Cape Town International Airport and transfer to the Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel in the historic Gardens neighbourhood. Within an easy walk of Kloof Street, with its quirky bistros and stylish boutiques, and the central city’s galleries, shops and restaurants, the Cape Cadogan is perfectly located as a base from which to explore Cape Town.

Dating back to the 1800s and now a national monument, the Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel is an institution. Its charming garden, chic open spaces and restful lounge with a cosy fireplace present the perfect opportunity to unwind; choose a book from the library, gaze at the view of Table Mountain… then set off in search of a fine-dining experience (Cape Town is home to many of the continent’s most-venerated eateries).

Days 2-3

Awake to the beauty of Table Mountain

Wake to the drama of Table Mountain flanked on either side by Lion’s Head and Devil’s Peak and celebrate your stay in Cape Town with an exhilarating cable-car ride to its summit, with the promise later of a hike up Lion’s Head for its sweeping sunset views of the Cape Peninsula. Then take advantage of the Cape Cadogan’s complimentary chauffeured transfers to the V&A Waterfront and have lunch, visit the Two Oceans Aquarium or book a trip to Robben Island to see Nelson Mandela’s infamous prison cell. If you are feeling energetic, walk back to Kloof Street through the Company’s Gardens after ambling through the buzzing craft markets of Greenmarket Square. Or pack a picnic and take to the lush lawns of the world-famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens or the golden sands of fashionable Clifton Fourth Beach.

Before you leave Cape Town, be sure to book a tour along the Atlantic coastline via Chapman’s Peak Drive to Cape Point - one of the most beautiful marine drives in the world - returning to the city via False Bay with a stop-over to visit the thousand-strong colony of endangered African penguins at Boulders Beach. Do not forget to take your camera, as photo opportunities abound along this picturesque route.

Days 4-6

In a pristine corner of unspoilt Africa

After breakfast, transfer to Cape Town International Airport for a scheduled flight to Hoedspruit Airport via Johannesburg. Here you will meet a representative for your onward transfer to Kings Camp Private Game Reserve. Located within Timbavati Nature Reserve, on the unfenced western boundary of the Kruger National Park, you are now in classic Big 5 territory.

Kings Camp is a beguiling colonial-style lodge in a pristine setting overlooking a waterhole. Breathe in the sweet air of your thatched suite and soak up the serenity of the savannah from the privacy of the viewing deck overlooking the waterhole: time stands still as kudu, nyala and giraffe come down to drink followed buffalo and elephant…

Timbavati Nature Reserve is the breeding ground of the rare white lion and home to the endangered wild dog. White lions are a genetic rarity; their sightings occur naturally in only a few places so cherish the moment, if you are fortunate enough to see one. The next two days will reveal to you a pristine landscape of waterbuck, lion and hyena. Because it is a private reserve, you will enjoy exclusive activities in Timbavati such as off-road excursions for premium sightings, spot-lit night drives and guided nature walks. After breakfast, accompanied by your ranger, take a walk through Little 5 territory and keep an eye out for diminutive ant-lions, elephant shrews, rhinoceros beetles, buffalo weavers and black-and-yellow-spotted leopard tortoises

Day 7
