Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in the Mother City

Arrive in Cape Town - affectionately known as 'The Mother City' by the locals - and pick up your rental car at the airport. Drive into the city and on to Welgelegen Guest House, a gracious Victorian home located in the leafy city neighbourhood of Gardens at the foot of Table Mountain.

Days 2-4

Explore Cape Town

As you have a car, you can venture out at you own pace to explore the city and its surroundings. It's only a short drive to the beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton, not to mention the V&A Waterfront, or you can head further afield to the natural delights of Cape Point, the Cape Winelands and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

The convenience of Welgelegen Guest House means you can come back after a busy day, relax and get ready for a night out on the town; the city is full of fantastic restaurants, clubs and bars.

Day 5

Fly into the Sabi Sands

Say goodbye to Cape Town and return your rental car to the airport before you catch a flight to Nelspruit. After being picked up, you'll be transferred to the game-rich Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve and Arathusa Safari Lodge, a luxurious safari camp located in the northern part of this legendary reserve.

Days 6-7

Experience the wildlife of the Sabi Sands

This section of the Sabi Sands is well known for its rich diversity of animal and birdlife, and boasts exceptional leopard and buffalo sightings. You'll explore the reserve on morning, late afternoon and early evening game drives led by knowledgable trackers and guides who will share the secrets of the bush with you.

For a truly exhilarating experience, head out on a guided walk after your mid-morning breakfast to get a different perspective of the Sabi Sands ecosystem. You'll then probably want to relax away the hot afternoon in the infinity swimming pool and watch the resident hippo pod in the large waterhole below.

Day 8

Spend a night in Johannesburg

Transfer from the Sabi Sands and back to Nelspruit airport to catch your flight to Johannesburg. On arrival you'll catch the new and efficient Gautrain to The Peech Hotel, located in the stylish neighbourhood of Melrose.

Day 9

Catch a flight to Victoria Falls

Catch the Gautrain back to the airport after a night's sleep for your scheduled flight to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Take a shared transfer to The Victoria Falls Hotel, the iconic, colonial-style hotel located close enough to 'The Smoke that Thunders' for you to have a drink in its grounds and feel the falling spray from the waterfall itself when it is in full flood.

Day 10

Be amazed at Victoria Falls

The Victoria Falls Hotel's prime location on the Zimbabwean side of Victoria Falls means that you can simply walk to the Victoria Falls National Park and into the rainforest that surrounds the thundering waterfall.

The views are great and the bird watching is excellent all along the Zambezi River. It also means that you are well-placed to spend today doing any of the exciting adventure activities available in the area: you could bungee jump off the Victoria Falls Bridge, go white-water rafting down the Zambezi River, take a scenic flight over the Falls, enjoy a dip in Devil's Pool, or amble along on an elephant-back safari to name a few.

Day 11

Return to Johannesburg

Return to Victoria Falls Airport via a shared transfer and catch a scheduled flight back to South Africa. Your arrival in Johannesburg indicates the end of a wonderful safari adventure.
