Spend seven glorious days in the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park, where you stay on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River and explore this incredible wilderness.

Kick off your stay at the family-owned and -run Chiawa Camp, the ideal location from which to enjoy game drives, boat safaris and canoe rides to search for the park's abundant wildlife. There are reliable lion sightings here and excellent kayaking and catch-and-release fishing.

From Chiawa Camp you venture by boat to Old Mondoro, a carbon-neutral river lodge that takes exclusivity to new heights: only eight guests are hosted at a time and only four are assigned to each game-drive vehicle. Use Old Mondoro's telescopes to spot far-off birds or even nearby stars in the breath-taking Milky Way.

Day to Day Itinerary

Days 1-4

Kayaking at Chiawa

From Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, you and your family fly from Kenneth Kuanda International Airport to Jeki airstrip, where you are met by friendly staff and driven to Chiawa Camp. This family-owned and -run tented sfari camp offers you an intimate and comfortable stay with fantastic views of the Lower Zambezi River from its location in the heart of Lower Zambezi National Park.

The focus here is on river-based activities like kayaking and fishing. There are great lion sightings to be had from regular game drives, and you can easily slip into the routine of watching palyful hippos while sipping an iced drink as the sun sets on another day in Africa.

Days 4-7

Walking at Old Mondoro

After three nights at Chiawa Camp, it is time to take the Zambezi once again for an exciting boat transfer to Ol Mondoro, another small camp that takes only eight guests. Adventurous guests will enjoy setting out on a guided walking safari in search of the area's famous but reclusive leopard population. Classic game drives are also undertaken with no more than four guests per vehicle at any time.

Once back on the wooden deck at Old Mondoro that overlooks the ebb and flow of the river, watch the abundant game come down for their evening drink or cast your gaz heavenwards and pick out important stars and planets through of the lodge's powerful telescopes.

After a final morning excursion and a last hearty breakfast, you and your loved ones will be driven back to Jeki airstrip for the short flight back to Lusaka.
