Day to Day Itinerary

Days 1-2

Discover the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park

Begin your journey as you fly into the Makgadikgadi Pans from Maun. Transfer by road to Leroo La Tau, an intimate safari lodge that overlooks the magnificent Boteti River and the great Makgadikgadi saltpans beyond. These two days will be spent exploring the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, home to about 30 000 wildebeest and zebra that migrate across the area annually between May and July. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives to explore these beautiful landscapes and look out for the prolific birdlife in the summer months.

As Leroo La Tau means 'footprints of the lion', you're likely to see these majestic beauties as they roam around in large prides. When you're not out and about on safari, you can cool down in the lodge's plunge pool or enjoy a drink on the wooden deck as it offers breathtaking views of the landscape and a place from which to view the animals when they come to the river to drink.

Sit down to delicious dinners around the campfire.

Day 3

Arrive in the magical Okavango Delta

Enjoy one last breakfast at Leroo La Tau before you transfer to the airstrip for your flight north into the Okavango Delta - Botswana's greatest wilderness destination – where you’ll have the chance to experience superb game viewing both on land and water. Arrive at Camp Okavango, a beautiful tented camp situated in the heart of the Okavango on Nxaragha Island.

The rest of the day is yours to relax and take in your new surroundings. Relax in the reading lounge or enjoy a cocktail on your private viewing deck. Cool off by taking a dip in the plunge pool or simply take a nap in your African-styled safari tent, built on a raised teak platform. A stroll around the area will bring you to a secluded bird hide for some self-guided bird watching.

Day 4

Discover the wonders of the Delta

The Okavango Delta is the largest inland delta in the world and home to prolific wildlife, including Africa's Big 5 and an impressive array of bird species. Spend the day exploring the watery channels of the Delta on traditional mokoro canoe excursions, guided walking safaris, game drives, or a river cruise.

Return to the camp in the evening and enjoy sundowners out on the main deck before sitting down for a scrumptious dinner out under the jackalberry trees that shade the camp.

Day 5

Travel into Moremi Game Reserve

Today you’ll travel to the Moremi Game Reserve – a spectacular portion of the Okavango Delta. Arrive at Camp Moremi, situated deep within the reserve on the Xakanaxa Lagoon. The main area of this luxury tented camp is shaded by giant ebony trees, creating a peaceful place to relax in the library or enjoy a drink at the cocktail bar.

After settling in it's time to head out on a thrilling evening drive with one of the trained naturalist guides, who are adept at tracking animals, even at night. Get the chance to see some of the nocturnal animals of the area.

Day 6

Explore the great Moremi Game Reserve

Today will be spent discovering the diverse landscape of Moremi. Pass through mopane forests, open savannah plains, seasonal floodplains and riverine habitats on your morning and afternoon game drives and enjoy a day of varied game viewing. Be on particular lookout for the African wild dog, cheetah, lion, leopard and elephant.

For a different approach to game viewing, Camp Moremi also offers bird watching excursions and powerboat trips to the Gadikwe Lagoon. Return to the camp in the evening and relax in the covered boma or gaze over the quiet African landscape from the elevated game-viewing platform.

Day 7

Travel into the Savute

Continue your journey this morning as you head into the Chobe National Park and travel to the more secluded Savute area. Settle in at your home for the next two nights - the Savute Safari Lodge - located on the banks of the beautiful Savute Channel.

Marvel at the brilliant views of the nearby waterhole from the swimming pool and viewing deck, or relax in the library. Alternatively, relax in your luxurious timber and glass suite that overlooks the dry riverbed.

Go on an early-evening game drive to get your first look at the magnificent park, returning to camp for a delicious African-inspired meal around the campfire.

Day 8

Set out to explore the Savute

The Savute region of the Chobe National Park is particularly well known for its high number of predators, especially lion and hyena. The lion prides in the area often take down buffalo - a rare and incredible sight to behold.

In the warmer months you can view a number of different predators quite easily, while the zebra migration in summer offers yet another remarkable sight. Also be on the lookout for the large population of bull elephants that roam the area as you go on exciting 4x4 game drives through this region.

Return to the lodge and enjoy a quiet drink as you watch the sun setting over the landscape.

Day 9

Travel deep into the Chobe National Park

Leave the predator-rich Savute region behind this morning as you head deeper into the Chobe National Park to Chobe Game Lodge - your home for the next two nights. The lodge is situated in the park's northern woodlands and offers amazing views of the Caprivi floodplains and Chobe River.

Relax and enjoy the scenery as you swim in the terraced swimming pool, have a drink in the riverside boma area or unwind in the beauty salon. Join your new friends for a game of pool in the bar or sit down in the library for a quiet read.

Head out on an afternoon game drive, looking out for lion, wild dog, red lechwe, and the rare roan and sable antelopes.

Day 10

Encounter the Chobe wilderness

Chobe National Park is one of Africa's most prolific wildlife areas, with a high concentration of wildlife, including spectacular birdlife. It is particularly well known for its large elephant herds and superb river-based game viewing.

Spend today on early morning and late afternoon drives through the park or enjoy a romantic sunset cruise on the Chobe River to see the hippos and elephants relaxing on the banks.

Return to camp for a sundowner and your last delicious African dinner around the fire.

Day 11

Wave goodbye to Botswana

Enjoy one last breakfast in the wilderness before departing to either Livingstone Airport in Zambia or Victoria Falls Airport in Zimbabwe - both of which are ideally located for an extended trip to explore the magnificent Victoria Falls.
