Day to Day Itinerary

Days 1-2

Discover the Sossusvlei desert region

On arrival at Windhoek International Airport, you’ll begin your Namibian adventure with a 340km drive to the dramatic Sossusvlei area. Sit back and enjoy the diverse landscapes as you drive through the Khomas Hochland Mountains on your way to this arid desert region.

Bordering the Namib-Naukluft National Park, you'll spend the next two nights at Kulala Adventurer Camp in the Private Kulala Wilderness Reserve. Getting up early the next morning will reward you with a spectacular view of the sun rising over the Sossusvlei dunes.

The day will be spent exploring the 37 000 hectares of land where wildlife such as ostrich, springbok, gemsbok and fox roam freely. Activities available include day and night drives, guided walks, early morning ballooning, horse riding and quad biking.

Days 3-4

Explore the coast of Swakopmund

An early departure will see you driving through the twisting roads of the Kuiseb Canyon before arriving at the gravel plains heading toward Walvis Bay. From this sleepy coastal town you'll drive up the coast until you reach Swakopmund - a quaint little town wedged between the icy Atlantic Ocean and the vast Namib Desert.

Spend the next day exploring the ocean and its abundant marine life on a catamaran cruise, spotting dolphins and seals. Visit the Oyster Platforms, see the lighthouse at Pelican Point, and marvel at the pelicans, flamingos, sunfish and even leatherback turtles and humpback whales during season.

Spend the evenings in the Hansa Hotel, an iconic building that forms part of Swakopmund's architectural culture.

Days 5-7

Spot the desert elephant in Damaraland

Continue your journey north to Damaraland, a distinct region west of the Brandberg Mountains. Stop for lunch at Ugab Save the Rhino Trust Camp where the largest concentration of black rhino outside of a reserve is found.

Enter the ancient landscapes of Damaraland to spot some of the desert-adapted species such as the black rhino and desert elephant. The area boasts surprisingly large populations of wildlife including zebra, kudu, giraffe, gemsbok and springbok.

Enjoy a full day of activities that includes nature walks, mountain biking, exploring the rock engravings at the World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein, and going on night nature drives to experience the nocturnal species.

Days 8-9

Experience the wildlife of the Etosha National Park

Drive to Andersson's Camp in the Ongava Game Reserve, bordering Etosha National Park. The reserve boasts not only the largest salt pan in the world, but also the highest wildlife density in Namibia.

Spend the entire next day exploring this abundant region and searching for the Big 5 and other savannah species. Enjoy lunch at Halali Camp where you can stroll down to the nearby waterhole and relax in the shade while the animals come and go.

Return to your camp in Ongava Game Reserve for dinner before heading out again on optional night drives and walks to search for some of the nocturnal animals.

Day 10

Returning to Windhoek

Drive south in the morning and return to Windhoek where your adventure comes to an end.
