Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arriving in picturesque Franschhoek

Arrive in this beautiful Winelands town and head to Franschhoek Country House and Villas - a restored manor house and perfumery on the outskirts of Franschhoek.

Begin an amazing journey as you tour one of the best wine regions in the world. In the evening, sit down at one of the many award-winning restaurants in the area for dinner.

Days 2-3

Tasting the wines of the Western Cape

Spend the next two days exploring this charming and historical town as well as the stunning mountain valley region that surrounds it.

Take a tour of boutique wine estates, stop in the many art and jewellery shops, visit the Huguenot Chocolate Factory or chat to an expert cheese maker.

After a day of exploration, spend a few hours enjoying massages and beauty treatments at Franschhoek Country House's spa.

Day 4

Leaving Franschhoek for Kruger

Following a full breakfast, transfer to Thornybush Private Game Reserve (own expense) and the very exclusive Shumbalala Game Lodge.

If time permits, head out on an afternoon game drive into the reserve and begin your safari adventure. You'll enjoy a sundowner drink and will return to camp via a spotlit evening drive.

Days 5-6

Game viewing in the Kruger Area

Enjoy the next two days in one of the best game parks in South Africa as you embark on expertly led morning, afternoon and early evening game drives as well as guided nature walks.

This 14 000 hectare game reserve, which borders the famous Kruger National Park, is home to a diverse range of classic African mammals including the renowned Big 5, as well as an astonishing bird count of around 500 species. Leopard sightings, normally so infrequent in Africa, are common at Thornybush and you'll get great off-road photographic opportunities.

Return to the lodge in the evenings to enjoy a delicious meal, after which you can relax by the fire or on the lookout deck to spot the nocturnal animals that come to the local waterhole for a drink.

Day 7

Saying goodbye to Thornybush

Wake up early for one final game drive before saying goodbye to Thornybush as you continue your adventure or head home with wonderful memories.
