Day to Day Itinerary

Days 1-4

The heart and soul of Cape Town

You will be met on arrival at Cape Town International Airport and driven by private transfer to check in at Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel, which is centrally located in the fashionable neighbourhood of Tamboerskloof at the foot of Table Mountain.

Cape Town is a walking city and Cape Cadogan makes an ideal base for strolling to the bustling cafes and art galleries of Kloof Street and the attractions of the Company Gardens. A short cab drive delivers you to the white sand beaches of Clifton and Bakoven, and the palm-fringed boulevard of Camps Bay with its chic sundowner spots. The Table Mountain cable car station is nearby as is the shopping and dining mecca of the V&A Waterfront.

Two full-day tours are included in your itinerary. The first takes you to the rugged beauty of Cape Point, the unofficial meeting point of the Indian and Atlantic ocean currents. Your second day tour is to the picturesque Cape Winelands to sample the finest wines from the region’s oldest cellars and indulge in a gourmet lunch surround by lush vineyards and craggy mountains.

The Cape Cadogan is your stylish retreat between expeditions - unwind in the plush lounge or soak up the sun beside a sparkling swimming pool with Table Mountain forming the backdrop.

Days 5-7

Big 5 game viewing at Sabi Sand

After breakfast, return to the airport for your journey to Skukuza Airstrip in the Kruger National Park. A game drive delivers you to Lion Sands River Lodge in the game-rich Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. This reserve shares an unfenced border with the Kruger National Park; together protecting 2.7 million hectares of teeming wilderness and one of Africa’s most biodiverse wildlife populations. Your home for the next three nights is wildly beautiful and utterly tranquil: your private deck overlooks the Sabie River offering excellent game viewing from the comfort of your spacious suite.

Lion Sands is the legacy of three generations of  family custodians, whose hospitality is as legendary as the wilderness they call home. Their personal touch is evident where, from warm, personal service to the handpicked wine list and feast-worthy dining. Each day brings you encounters with the wilderness in the care of exceptional guides on games drives and  nature walks. This is Africa as is has always been, where the water is fresh, the sky endless and the savannah bursting with life. Leopards are a main attraction here – in fact, the Sabi boasts an unrivalled record for the regularity and quality of sightings. Between your adventures in the reserve, there are lazy hours by the pool, soaking up the sunshine and views and pampering treatments at the lodge’s spa.

Day 8

Farewell to Africa

After breakfast, you return to Skukuza Airport  to begin your journey home. You have made memories for a lifetime: stood on top of Table Mountain, tasted the Cape's award-winning vintages, and witnessed the dramatic southern tip of the continent at Cape Point. You have seen a leopard on the hunt, and toasted an African sunset on the banks of the Sabie River.
