Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Malawi

Arrive at Lilongwe International Airport where you'll be met by your guide and transferred to Mvuu Camp. Sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Malawi on this 4-5 hour drive. Settle in at Mvuu Camp and enjoy the spectacular sunset as you prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Days 2-3

Discover the Liwonde National Park

Mvuu Camp offers visitors a comfortable home that is close to nature. Set inside the Liwonde National Park, on the banks of the Shire River, this is the ideal location from which to explore this beautiful park.

Enjoy relaxing boat safaris on the Shire River, as well as game drives and nature walks to explore the diverse landscape and its resident wild. Be on the lookout for elephant, sable antelope, hippo, impala and waterbuck as well as the elusive serval and the bigger-than-normal crocodiles that roam the area. Liwonde is also home to exceptional bird life.

Unwind at Mvuu Camp after a day of excitement in the raised dining room and enjoy spectacular views over the river. Escape from the African heat in the swimming pool and settle down to enjoy your dinner at the riverside restaurant.

Days 4-6

Enjoy a private paradise

After a delicious breakfast, you will enjoy a 2-3 hour ride to the Kayak Africa Base Camp. Here you'll receive kayak instructions and make your way to Mumbo Island on a guided kayak trip or by boat.

Mumbo Island is a private concession that forms part of the beautiful Lake Malawi National Park. It has never been inhabited and makes for an unspoilt paradise on which to spend your next three nights. The lodge prides itself in caring for the environment and allows only 14 guests to stay at a time.

Explore the crystal waters on snorkelling, scuba diving or kayaking trips, and enjoy company in the form of the friendly, resident spotted-neck otter. Retreat to your peaceful chalet, perched high on the rocks, with stunning views of the lake and these private, deserted surroundings.

Day 7
