An absolute Bucket List destination, Uganda is fondly known as the Pearl of Africa. Spend six days in the iconic jungle of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, the remote home of endangered mountain gorillas made famous by the legendary zoologist, Dr. Diane Fossey.
Touch down at Entebbe Airport and spend the night at the charming, colonial-era homestead, The Boma. A quick transfer deposits you in the Bwindi Forest, where you spend two nights and a full day trekking to observe the gorillas. Seeing these large primates in their natural habitat is both a rare privilege and an often emotionally riveting experience that endures long after.
After your gorilla trek, the savannah of Lake Mburo National Park beckons. Located near Entebbe, the park is home to a rich variety of wildlife and over 350 bird species. Together with other lakes in the area, Mburo forms a massive wetland system linked by a papyrus swamp and lined with lush woodland and rocky ridges. It is a bountiful gem of a park to be explore on game drives and guided walks, providing an excellent balance to trekking on foot through the dense tropical forests of Bwindi.
