Day to Day Itinerary

Days 1-2

Tanzania: a warm welcome

On arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you board your charter flight to Lake Manyara. Thanks to a range of natural habitats, ranging from a central soda lake - a haven for thousands of flamingos and water birds – to thickly forested valleys and wide-open grasslands, Manyara is home to a great diversity of game and birdlife. In addition to its famous tree-climbing lions, there is a large elephant population and plenty of plains game from antelope to zebra, giraffe and buffalo.

Your home for two nights is Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, set in a grove of mahogany trees with only 10 luxurious treehouse suites radiating from the lodge’s elegant central lounge, bar and dining area. Spend your days exploring the abundant natural beauty of this area on game drives and your evenings lingering over delicious dinners beneath the starry skies.

Days 3-5

Serengeti: great migration

After a delicious breakfast, a charter flight whisks you to the legendary plains of the Serengeti. The Great Migration takes place here, where in excess of a million wildebeest, zebra and gazelles migrate in search of water and sun ripened grazing. They face bands of predators and treacherous river crossings on their journey, driven by an instinct as old as the land.

Your home for the next three nights is the Serengeti Under Canvas Camp. This intimate and elegant camp moves with the migration to ensure you have front row seats to one of nature’s greatest spectacles. Explore this rugged terrain on game drives, the horizon filled with vast herds of game and the lions that prey on them. A highly recommended experience in this grand landscape is a dawn hot air balloon ride over the plains – after exploring the Serengeti from on ground level, the aerial viewpoint is something to savour.

Days 6-7

Ngorongoro Crater: natural wonder

The Ngorongoro Crater ranks as one of the most spectacular wildlife destinations on earth. This long-extinct volcano is the world’s largest intact caldera and home to an incredible array of habitats, which support a rich population of game. With springs and streams of fresh water and the natural barricades of the crater walls, this magical place is home to elephants with enormous tusks, black rhinos and black-maned lions.

Your home here is Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, perched on the very rim of the crater and sometimes shrouded in a thin veil of mist. Your suite offers one of the most spectacular views in Africa in a lodge specialising in lavish comfort. Explore the crater on daily game drives taking in the teeming wildlife and breathtaking scenery – this is one of the few reserves where the Big 5 can be seen in a single game drive.

Day 8

After a last game drive, you begin your journey home. Flying over this ancient landscape, the memories of your journey rise before you: the sights and sounds you have encountered, the wonders you have witnessed.
