Perfect for adventurous travellers who want a taste of mobile camping as part of a broader itinerary or for those with limited vacation time, this 6-night journey takes you through three of northern Botswana’s undisputed highlights: Chobe National Park, the Savute Channel and the Okavango Delta.

Mobile camping means moving every few days between temporary bush camps and being accommodated in dome or Meru tents without electricity or air conditioning. This allows you to truly immerse yourself in the wilderness and experience how the golden age of safaris used to occur. But comfort is not forgotten: cameras and cellphones can be charged on the safari vehicle, and your airy tent will have a proper bed and separate bathroom with a hot bucket shower.

In addition to game drives and boat cruises on the Chobe River, you undertake bush walks, catch-and-release fishing, mekoro rides and will be able to see the magnificent Okavango Delta from a light aircraft, the best way to appreciate the sheer scale of this astonishing inland wetland. There are only six guests per trip and children must be over the age of 12.

Itinerary Highlights

  • All of northern Botswana’s best areas
  • Only 6 guests per camp
  • Boat cruises, mekoro rides & game drives
  • Eco-friendly mobile camping
  • Bush walks & fishing in season

Day to Day Itinerary

Days 1-2

Touchdown in elephant country

Having made your way to Kasane Airport, you will be welcomed to Botswana by your dedicated guide who will be at your side for your entire journey. Your next port of call is a secluded camp site in Chobe National Park, home to the world’s largest concentration of elephants. In addition to game drives in this wildlife-rich region, you will also experience the ebb and flow of the life-giving Chobe River – water safaris allow you to see semi-aquatic animals like hippos and crocodiles from an exciting new perspective.

Days 3-4

Life in the Savute

After two days, you will move to your next camp, which is situated in Chobe’s pristine wilderness of the Savute Channel. If you are travelling between February and April, your accommodation will be in a more spacious Meru tent rather than a dome tent. But, regardless of your shelter, you cannot help but be awed by the Savute: look out for large prides of lion, packs of endangered wild dog, as well as elusive predators like leopards and hyenas. In addition, learn more about the geographical and cultural history of the area by seeing ancient volcanic outcrops and delicate Bushmen rock art.

Days 5-6

Delta days

Leave the 4x4 behind at Savute and take to the sky in a light aircraft for your journey to the sensational Nxabega Concession in the Okavango Delta. Land and water come together here to give you plenty of adventure: mix your game drives with bush walks, mekoro rides and catch-and-release angling.

Day 7

Farewell Botswana!

A week in one of Africa’s most beautiful areas has passed and today it is time to make your way to Maun International Airport. Your guide will wave you goodbye and, as you take off, you recall nights around the campfire under millions of stars, a lucky encounter with a rare puku antelope and some of the biggest families of elephants you have ever seen…
