Day to Day Itinerary

Days 1-2

Explore Zambia & the Victoria Falls

Your adventure begins after touching down at Livingstone Airport in Zambia, where you will be greeted and welcomed by a staffer from Sussi & Chuma Lodge. A short road transfer takes you to the lodge’s beautiful setting on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, and this will be your base for the following two nights. The afternoon is yours to spend as you please - sit back and take in sweeping views of the river from your private elevated ‘treehouse’, track rhino on foot or enjoy your first afternoon game drive.

After a restful night you can look forward to a day of exciting activities, all included in your stay: take a tour of the Zambian side of Victoria Falls, go canoeing, or enjoy a sundowner cruise on the Zambezi. The lodge also offers walking safaris and game drives in Mosi-oa Tunya National Park, and cultural tours to the local school and village.

Livingstone is known as Africa’s adventure capital so if you are an adrenalin junkie you can take on the Grade 5 rapids of the Zambezi River, swim on the edge of the Falls in the Devil’s Pool, take the ‘Flight of the Angels’ over the Falls on a helicopter or microlight, or go bungee jumping. These activities are optional extras but are easily co-ordinated by your personal Go2Africa safari expert.

Days 3-4

Safari at Chobe National Park

Bid farewell to Zambia with a final breakfast and an early morning game drive. It is then time to cross the Kazangula border into Botswana – you will transfer over the river at a place known as ‘Four Countries’ as it is the point where the borders of Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia meet. A guide will escort you through customs to ensure a hassle-free crossing. After the transfer, you will arrive at Chobe Chilwero Lodge, located on a hilltop overlooking the Chobe River and floodplains.

Chobe National Park is the second largest wilderness reserve in the country and is best known for its estimated 80 000-strong elephant population. After lunch, and perhaps a spot of high tea, is the scheduled afternoon safari activity, which is usually a romantic cruise on the Chobe River (look out for families of elephants crossing, the leader testing the depth of the water and the babies kept safe in the middle of the group). You will return to the lodge after a spectacular sunset where a sumptuous dinner awaits. The following day is all about tracking big game including lion, hippo, crocodile and large herds of elephant and buffalo – either on game drives or river cruises. Chobe Chilwero also boasts a full spa facility, which is said to be the best in the country.

Days 5-6

Into the Okavango Delta

Today you will begin the exciting journey into the Okavango Delta. After a short transfer to Kasane Airport a light aircraft flight takes you to Stanley’s Airstrip. It is a very scenic flight and is followed by a short road transfer to Stanley’s Camp.

Your next two nights are spent in luxurious tented suites, and you will be treated to a very exclusive safari experience within 260 000 acres of private wilderness. The camp accommodates just 16 guests at any one time and offers serene mekoro excursions (subject to water levels), romantic bush dinners, guided nature walks, game drives as well as the rare opportunity to enjoy night drives. An optional extra that comes highly recommended is the chance to get close to three semi-habituated orphaned elephants, walk alongside them and even feed them.

Day 7

Depart Botswana

The day begins as usual with a scheduled morning safari activity, usually a game drive, followed by a full breakfast. It is then onto Stanley’s Airstrip for a short light aircraft flight to Maun International Airport which connects to South Africa, Namibia or Victoria Falls, depending on your next destination.
