Personalised, fully inclusive, luxury tented camps

Witness the vastly different and dramatic landscapes of Southern Africa on this luxury tour through Botswana and Zambia. In addition to seeing some of Africa’s most magnificent scenery, you will receive highly personalised service at luxury tented camps, and have the opportunity to track both iconic and rare wildlife on traditional 4x4 game drives and water-based safaris. There is also the convenience of quick air transfers between destinations.

Begin in the vast Kalahari Desert, at a remote location within Botswana’s Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Here you will discover spell-binding landscapes and rare desert-adapted wildlife, and can spend dreamy nights stargazing from your suite’s own star-bed. Depart the Kalahari for the lush waterways of the Okavango Delta to see how the abundant Cubango River turns the semi-arid plains of Botswana into an exquisite oasis of forests, marshes, floodplains and wooded islands. The mixture of savannah and water-loving species at the Delta is sure to delight both seasoned and first-time safari goers.

A short flight then takes you into Zambia to marvel at one of Africa’s greatest spectacle, and the largest body of falling water in the world, Victoria Falls. Your base on the banks of the Zambezi River is just a short drive from the Falls and its beautiful wilderness location allows you to truly unwind and indulge during this leg of the journey.

Day to Day Itinerary

Days 1-4

See the central Kalahari Desert

Your tour begins at Maun Airport with a short flight to the Kalahari Plains Airstrip. Arriving in the afternoon, you will be warmly greeted and transferred to the first luxury lodge on your itinerary, Kalahari Plains Camp. Prepare yourself for a truly unique, remote and authentic safari experience at the camp, from which you will be able to track the beautiful black-maned Kalahari lions, honey badgers, antelope and other fascinating desert-adapted wildlife.

As the world’s second largest reserve, the sheer size, vastness and untouched beauty of Central Kalahari Game Reserve is sure to touch your soul. Encounters with San Bushmen offer invaluable cultural enrichment and their ancient stories and traditional ways of life offer further insight into this vast, mystical land.

Kalahari Plains Camp has just eight canvas suites each with a comfortable bedroom and private en suite bathroom set on raised wooden decks. On the second level of your suite is a lovely sleep-out deck for magical nights under the stars, or for simply appreciating the never-ending Kalahari landscape.

Days 4-7

Abundant wildlife at Okavango Delta

From the Kalahari Plains Airstrip, you will board a return flight to Maun, and from there, a connecting flight takes you to Vumbura Plains Airstrip. Your home for the next three nights is on a small wooded island among the waterways of the beautiful Okavango Delta, and you will arrive at this water-side sanctuary on a romantic boat transfer.

Little Vumbura tented camp blends seamlessly with the indigenous forest that surrounds it and boasts enchanting views of the Delta’s floodplains. With just six well-appointed tented suites, you are guaranteed a personalised and intimate stay, and in addition to game drives you can enjoy guided walks and water-based game viewing on traditional mokoro canoes.

Days 7-9

The natural wonder of Victoria Falls

From the airstrip near Little Vumbura you will fly to Zambia, touching down at Kasane Airport. A short road transfer takes you to Toka Leya – a beautiful safari-style lodge set on the banks of the upper Zambezi River. The final leg of your journey is all about taking in the incredible natural wonder that is Victoria Falls and soaking up vistas of the mighty river that feeds it. Toka Leya has a beautiful riverside location, and is situated just a short drive away from the Falls.

Your stay includes a guided tour of the Zambian side of the Falls, a tour of Livingstone town and museum, and a visit to a nearby local village. And there’s plenty of R&R to be had – book a luxurious treatment at the serene wellness centre, take a romantic sunset cruise on the Zambezi, or simply recline on your private viewing deck and toast to another beautiful day in Africa.

A final flight takes you from Toka Leya Camp to Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport. From here you are able to fly to OR Tambo International Airport for a connecting flight home.
