Luxury Kalahari Desert Expedition

Depart Maun early in the morning for the Deception Valley Lodge which is situated just outside the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The area offers excellent wildlife sightings of cheetah, leopard, gemsbok, kudu and springbok. There is also a rich variety of birdlife, including vultures and other rare species indigenous to this region.

After an early breakfast, depart overland to your pre-erected private campsite in the Deception Valley. This prehistoric riverbed in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve transforms after the brief rains, when the nutritious grasses attract herds from all over this enormous reserve. These large concentrations of desert wildlife and their young are followed closely by predators – making for dramatic viewing.

Enjoy a full-day wildlife viewing activity (with picnic lunch) in the game-rich Piper’s Pans area of the Kalahari, as well as Letiahau and Deception Valley.

Enjoy a light breakfast before departing overland to the frontier town of Maun, arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon, fly by light aircraft to the water-filled paradise of the private Xigera area in the Moremi Game Reserve. Xigera offers serene water channels flowing around remote islands of lush vegetation inhabited by diverse wildlife.

Your luxurious camp is situated in a magnificent riverine forest and each room is raised off the ground on a wooden deck offering superb views of the seasonal floodplain and waterhole. There is no better way to experience the Okavango than to travel through it by mokoro (traditional canoe), as well as walking and camping out on some of its green islands - all essential elements of this memorable trail experience.

After an early game activity and breakfast, fly to Maun where your safari comes to an end.
