Southern Tanzania Safari

Arrive at Dar es Salaam Airport and transfer to Ruaha National Park - Tanzania's second largest National Park. Settle in at our base for the next three nights - Jongomero Camp - and prepare for lunch, followed by a siesta.

In late afternoon, you’ll set out on a game drive in an open-sided vehicle, following the course of the Ruaha River. This 10 300 sq km reserve, set within and along the Great Rift Valley, is perhaps the least well-known of Tanzania's parks and yet without doubt one of the most spectacular. As the day draws to an end you stop for a sundowner drink before returning to camp for dinner.

Spend another full day in Ruaha National Park as you explore the region on morning and afternoon game drives. Jongomero is situated in a remote area in the south of the park, giving you impression that you have the whole of Africa to yourself as you explore the remote parklands, riverine areas and hills.

With over 475 species of bird and all of the major African mammals, game drives in Ruaha rarely disappoint. This reserve is also one of the few areas where greater and lesser kudu can be seen.

Enjoy breakfast and a leisurely start to the day before transferring to the airstrip for your scheduled bush flight to Selous Safari Camp.

Selous is the largest protected wilderness reserve in Africa and is home to the Big 5, the endangered wild dog, and much more. After arrival, you have the opportunity to start exploring this incredible wilderness area by car, boat or on foot, returning in time for sunset and dinner.

Today you leave Selous for a complete change of scenery. Transfer to Ras Kutani, a lovely beach getaway on the coast of Tanzania.

Spend two wonderful nights here, unwinding after your memorable African safari. There is plenty to see and do here, from body boarding, surfing, snorkelling and kayaking on the lagoon, to exploring the coastal forest. The beautiful forest is home to colobus, vervet and sykes monkey, as well as baboons, wild pigs and the elusive civet cats.
