Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Lusaka

On arrival at Mfuwe Airport, you'll be met and transferred in an open 4x4 vehicle to the camp, which will also serve as your first game drive in the area.

On arrival at the camp, take some time to relax and settle into your riverside chalet, beautifully decorated in a minimalist style, with teak furniture and a large 4-poster bed. Dine on a delicious 3-course meal prepared by the excellent French chef, and served under the stars in the boma.

Day 2

See game and wildlife

Wake up to a sumptuous buffet breakfast before heading out on a morning game drive. Because of the camp's location, you can enjoy boat and canoe safaris, as well as game drives and walks.

After an active day out, you can return to your spacious and airy tent for a hot shower before dinner. Tonight you can arrange a romantic dinner in the privacy of your own tent.

Day 3

Travel to South Luangwa

A transfer will take you to the Luangwa River where you'll cross the river by boat and continue on your journey by safari vehicle to the camp. Tena Tena lies on a bend of the Luangwa River and comprises custom-made tents positioned in the shade of a grove of mahogany trees.

Spend your afternoon relaxing in the lounge and bar area as you watch the elephant, hippo and antelope on the riverbanks.

Days 4-7

Exploring the Luangwa bush

The South Luangwa National Park is home to dense populations of mammals, birds and reptiles, in particular along the banks of the river. The river plays host to crocodile, hippo and many water birds, so boat safaris are highly recommended. There are also plenty of predators and plains game to spot on game drives, as well as over 400 species of bird to delight bird lovers.

Day 8

Head to Lake Malawi

Transfer by road to Mfuwe Airstrip where you’ll board a scheduled charter flight to Monkey Bay near Lake Malawi. You’ll transfer by road to Pumulani Lake Lodge where you’ll be staying for the next 5 nights.

Days 9-12

Dive and relax on the lake

Pumulani Lake Lodge is situated on the south end of Lake Malawi, on one of the most beautiful shores of the lake. The camps position right on the lake means that there are a range of exciting water activities on offer, including snorkelling, kayaking, scuba diving, waterskiing, tubing and wake boarding.

For those wanting an experience of African culture, a village walk is offered which will provide fascinating insights into the local traditions and customs. Beautiful sunsets can be enjoyed from the pool on the terrace, the beach, or on board a dhow cruise.

Following a day filled with exciting activities, you can return to your spacious villa and enjoy the views from your private deck. After a rest, make your way to the dining and bar area, positioned high above the lake and affording great views.
