Best of South Africa Train Journey

Start your day early with a game drive in the world-class Kruger National Park. Enjoy an amazing game drive in open vehicles as you search for the famous Big 5. Brunch is served in the dining car as the luxury train makes its way to Swaziland through Komatiepoort.

On arrival in Swaziland, you will enjoy another spectacular game drive at Mkhaya Game Reserve. The Rovos luxury train then departs for an overnight journey to Hluhluwe in Zululand.

Today you’ll enjoy another exciting early morning game drive, this time in the Hluhluwe Game Reserve, after which the train will continue on towards Durban. You’ll arrive in Durban in the early evening, where you will have the evening to explore this beautiful coastal city.

Your luxury train tour continues as you depart Durban and head for Bloemfontein. Your day will be spent on board the Rovos Rail train as you look out at the changing landscape from the Observation Car.

On arrival in Bloemfontein, you’ll set out on a tour of this historical city, known by its residents as the City of Roses because of the abundance of these flowers. Depart Bloemfontein as the train makes its way to Port Elizabeth.

Today you will tour the magnificent Addo Elephant National Park, which protects five of South Africa's seven biomes and hosts the so-called ‘Big 7’ - elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, leopard, whale and great white shark. A midday departure sees you journeying on towards Oudtshoorn.

Visit one of the many ostrich farms in Oudtshoorn, in the Klein Karoo, before the steam train sets off for the small coastal town of George. Upon arrival in George, the centre of the Garden Route, you have the afternoon at leisure to explore the sights. Round off the day with dinner at the Fancourt Estate.

After a morning tour of the idyllic town of Knysna or a round of golf at the Ernie Els Oubaai Golf Club, you’ll set off again on Rovos, for your final destination - Cape Town.

On route to Cape Town, the Rovos luxury train will stop in Worcester where you will visit the KWV Brandy Distillery for a guided tour. You luxury train tour reaches the Mother City, in the early evening, signalling the end of your scenic train journey.
