Classic Namibia

Touch down at Windhoek International Airport where you will collect your rental car and begin your trip. A five-hour scenic journey will take you through the grassy plains of central Namibia to the Ongava Private Game Reserve. You will spend the following three nights in Ongava Tented Camp, a traditional safari camp in the Ongava Reserve, bordering Etosha National Park.

The Ongava Reserve is one of the few reserves in Africa where you have a chance of seeing both black and white rhinos. Enjoy a bit of adventure as you take part in a guided white rhino tracking expedition on foot.

As you're on the border of the renowned Etosha National Park, this is the ideal opportunity to explore Namibia's premier wildlife viewing destination: expect to see classic African mammals such as giraffe and zebra, a wide variety of antelope species and many predators as well as four of the Big 5 - lion, elephant, rhino and, if you're lucky, leopard.

Enjoy the views of vast open plains and strange rock formations as you take to the road on your 5-hour journey to Damaraland Camp in the Huab River valley, situated in the heart of evocative Damaraland. You'll spend the following three nights here, exploring this unique and remote semi-desert region.

Spend the next two days visiting the fascinating sights of Damaraland, among them the World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein where you can admire over 2 500 Khoisan rock engravings and paintings on ancient desert boulders.

You can also go on game drives where you will have the rare opportunity to see the desert-adapted elephants that roam these lands as well as other desert mammals such as giraffe, mountain zebra, kudu and lion.

Today you will embark on another long journey to Swakopmund and have the surreal experience of driving through the oldest desert in the world - the Namib - before suddenly being greeted by the icy Atlantic Ocean.

Explore the quaint colonial town of Swakopmund and take relaxing walks on the long stretches of sandy beaches. The adventurous at heart will enjoy activities like sand boarding, quad biking and paragliding on the many sand dunes set aside for recreation.

Spend these two nights in the Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre.

Today you will drop off your rental car and board a flight to the incredible Sossusvlei region. View the contrasting Namibian coast and Namib Desert from the air - an experience that will leave you genuinely breathless.

Settle in at the Kulala Desert lodge, situated in the heart of this vast, arid landscape and spend the following three days marvelling at the highest sand dunes in the world.

Get up early to see the magnificent sight of the sun rising over the dunes, colouring them in shades of red, orange and peach, before you set out to enjoy horse rides and nature walks - make sure you climb the (in)famous Dune 45 and admire the beautiful views from the top!

Hot air balloon rides will give you a different perspective of the region while a visit to Dead Vlei will have you standing on a dry and glistening salt pan surrounded by the imposing, silent dunes.

Wave goodbye to the desert this morning as you catch a plane back to Windhoek's Hosea Kutako International in time for your outbound journey.
