Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1

Travel through the Midlands

Fly into Durban International Airport today, pick up your rental car and make your way out of the city.

You'll then drive through the KwaZulu Natal Midlands as you make your way to The Fordoun Spa, Hotel and Restaurant, a delightful 1800s farmhouse converted into a hotel and spa with a country feel. Check in and relax - idyllic and tranquil, this is the perfect place to revitalise yourself after your flight, and sets the stage for the fine things to come.

Day 2

Unwind & relax at Fordoun Spa

At Fordoun you can relax while professional practitioners take care of your every health and beauty need: enjoy a rejuvenating Turkish steam and clay treatment, have a massage, or simply unwind in the saline floatation pool.

You also get to meet Dr Elliot Ndlovu - a renowned spiritual healer (Sangoma), herbalist and director of the spa. Make sure you visit Dr Ndlovu's house to see the more than 120 different species of healing plants in the gardens.

Fly-fishing is also one of the activities you can enjoy - and with the help of a local guru, you can learn, improve or fine tune this rare skill.

Days 3-4

Experience elegance & horse racing

After breakfast at Fordoun, you can start your journey to Hartford House. This elegant country house is situated on South Africa's leading racehorse stud farm, Summerhill Stud.

You can enjoy a tour of both Hartford House and Summerhill Stud at 10am in the morning. Here, you can learn about the history of racing, the breeding of champions, and view stallions owned by the Sheiks of Dubai.

Embrace the immense luxury of this property - regularly rated as one of the Top 5 destinations in the country. Stroll around the enchanting gardens, and enjoy the views of the serene countryside that this sophisticated property has to offer.

Days 5-6

Enjoy gourmet food at Cleopatra's

After breakfast at Hartford House, you'll drive to Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse. Prepare yourself for the views of the majestic Drakensberg mountains that await you here.

On your way you can stop at the Kamberg Nature Reserve where a guided walk will take you to an interesting site that hosts some of the best San Bushman Rock Art in South Africa.

Arrive with an appetite at Cleopatra's where a 5-course dinner welcomes you. This fabulous meal is prepared by the chef, famous both locally and internationally for his rich, mouth-watering cuisine. Experience this food feast while enjoying the tranquil atmosphere offered by your surroundings.

Your Midlands tour comes to an end today as you enjoy a short drive from the Drakensberg back to Durban Airport where you'll drop off your car and continue your journey back home.
