Memorable Kilimanjaro Marangu Climb

Start your adventure with a transfer from the Kilimanjaro Airport to Moshi where you'll meet your guide at the Springlands Hotel. That evening your guide will brief your group about the upcoming climb and help you hire any equipment that's additionally required.

Wake up early and head towards Kilimanjaro National Park, enjoying some wildlife viewing on the way to the Marangu Gate. The first section of the Kilimanjaro climb is through beautiful rainforests, and will take about three to five hours, ending at an altitude of 2,750m.

Your first accommodation is in the form of dormitory-style chalets at the Mandara Hut. Spend the evening relaxing and socialising with your fellow climbers.

Start your day early and set off through the last section of the rainforest into the heather and moorland area of the higher altitudes. Today’s walk will take around 5-7 hours, ending off at an altitude of 3700m. Your accommodation for the night is at the Horombo Hut, which has stunning views of both Kibo and Mawenzi.

As you climb today, you’ll notice the terrain becoming more rugged and the vegetation more sparse as you make your way to the last watering point.

At this stage of your Kilimanjaro climb you need to fill up with water, take a breather, and then head off through a broad desert zone between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. This area is known as the Kibo Saddle and is at a height of 4,700m. Spend the night in a dormitory-style chalet at Kibo Hut.

Set out just after midnight for the 5hr climb to the summit with the goal of arriving in time to watch the sunrise at Gillman’s Point, on the crater rim at an altitude of 5,681m.

The final climb to Uhuru Peak takes you to the highest point in Africa at 5,896m. After reaching the summit and celebrating in your achievement, you'll begin the descent. After 4-7 hours of walking, you’ll reach Horombo Hut where you’ll spend the night.

Wake up to the satisfying feeling that you've reached your goal, and descend to the Marangu Park gate where you will be met and transferred back to Springlands Hotel.

Spend the rest of your day relaxing after a nice shower, and relish in your sense of achievement over a delicious dinner (not included) and a good night's sleep in a comfy bed.

After breakfast, transfer from Moshi to the Kilimanjaro Airport for your onward travel arrangements.
