Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Arusha

On arrival the Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met and transferred to the Springlands Hotel for the night. Later in the evening your guide will brief you on your trek, before you enjoy a delicious dinner (not included).

Day 2

Ascend to the Machame Camp

This morning you begin the first section of your adventure climb up Africa's highest mountain. Transfer to the Machame Gate of Kilimanjaro National Park where you’ll complete the park entrance formalities.

Begin hiking through the lush rainforest of the lower slopes as you make your way to the Machame Camp which is about 3,000m above sea level. Relax after your initial day as the guides and porters prepare dinner, and set up your camp.

Day 3

Enjoy a scenic climb to the Shira Camp

Rise early and enjoy breakfast before starting your day's climbing. You’ll make your way out of the rainforest into gentle moorland, stopping for lunch and a rest. Continue your day’s hike up a ridge to the Shira Plateau for excellent views of Kibo's glaciated dome.

Enjoy the views and scenery while you continue to your final destination, the Shira Camp, at a height of 3,800m. Enjoy some much needed relaxation as your guides and porters set up camp and prepare your dinner.

Day 4

Cross a valley to the Barranco Camp

Heading eastwards towards Kibo, you’ll cross below the prominent landmark of the Lava Tower where you'll stop for lunch. Enjoy the views while taking a break, and then descend the scree slopes of the Western Breach to the Kilimanjaro Barranco Campsite.

Enjoy a memorable sunset from the Great Barranco Walls as you wait for dinner. Overall your highest ascent for the day will have been 4,600m though your campsite is at 3,900m.

Day 5

Enjoy views of the ice fields at Barafu

Begin your day early to tackle the day’s challenging climb. The path climbs steeply out of the Barranco Valley and crosses the Karanga Valley, which is the last water point for your ascent.

Continue along a steep climb over rocky slabs to the Barafu Campsite at a height of 4,600m. The campsite offers stunning views of the ice fields.

Day 6

Make it to the snowy summit

Wake up around midnight to begin your ascent to the Stella Point on the crater rim in time for sunrise. After taking in the amazing view, continue your walk to the Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,896m.

After a short rest at the summit, you'll descend through the lower moorland and forest landscape to the Mweka Campsite where you’ll stay overnight and relax after a long, but worthwhile climb.

Day 7

Get a good night's sleep in Moshi

This morning you’ll descend the rest of the way through the forest to the gate at the Mweka Wildlife College. Here, you'll be met and transferred back to the Springlands Hotel for dinner and a much deserved shower and bed.

Day 8
