Travel Insurance in Africa » Introduction

Ok, let's talk financial protection.

No matter what research you've done or how long a travel company or service provider has been in existence, in today's environment things can happen. Things that affect your holiday, holiday investment and overall financial health. The global recession has now made it essential to always travel with inclusive comprehensive insurance that covers all areas of your trip.

Did you know that...

  • more than 50 airlines worldwide declared insolvency in 2008?
  • since 1998, 25 US airlines have ceased operations due to financial failure? This number includes 6 airlines failing in the latter part of 2008 alone. Some of these include Skybus, Aloha Airlines & ATA (Hawaii), Sun Country and Frontier.
  • familiar names such as United Airlines, Continental Airlines, America West, US Airways, Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines have been reorganized under bankruptcy protection? These airlines are still operating but it is unclear whether they will survive the economic climate.
  • the failure of UK travel businesses increased by 86% from July to September 2008? (TimesOnline; Nov 7, 2008)

Go2Africa has identified and addressed these risks. From unforeseen and unexpected circumstances, pre-departure to on vacation challenges (including but not limited to financial failure, death, illness or accidents), we provide insurance to protect your holiday, holiday investment and overall financial health.

It's true that you may never need to use these coverages, but you've worked too hard to put your holiday and investment at risk.

Thank you so very much=) I recieved my cheque from my insurance company yesterday for the full amount for the Zambian Airlines flight.. Just wanted to let you know that all the effort put in by you and your team is deeply appreciated and I can sincerely vouch for the fact that Go2Africa is really something more. Thanks once again=) - Raksha Manoj Sajnani, Go2Africa Traveller May 2009

Go2Africa's guarantee in the current economic climate

Go2Africa's insurance cover is comprehensive and provided to Go2Africa travellers. We have done months of research into travel insurance and after negotiations with various insurance providers, we are confident that we have found the best possible travel insurance solution - a Group Travel Insurance Policy that perfectly suits the needs of our travellers.

Best of all, we provide you with this benefit so you don't waste your valuable time sourcing and comparing quotes from a variety of companies - and ending up with a cover that is not as comprehensive as needed.

Insist upon the comprehensive insured protection that you and your investment deserves. We don't know of any other travel company that is able to provide you with inclusive Financial Peace of Mind.

What Type of Policy is it?

All Go2Africa travellers are provided with comprehensive travel insurance upon booking confirmation and deposit payment. It provides cover to all travellers in the event of medical issues and emergencies; trip cancellation, postponement and curtailment; default of any supplier booked with us (including Go2Africa) as well as loss of or damage to luggage and personal possessions.

This policy provides you with extraordinary elements you don't normally find in a travel policy (i.e. financial failure cover, legal assistance as well as a concierge service while on vacation). We thought of everything that could possibly go wrong and as a result made sure you will be completely covered.

Which insurance company provides the cover?

Our Group Policy is provided by AXA Assistance, one of the largest assistance generalists in the world.

TRAVELLER WARNING:

In today's uncertain economic climate you cannot afford to make payment for your holiday to a travel company that doesn't provide trust account and insured financial protection.

Do not be fooled by empty or shallow promises linked to years of trading or association membership bonding such as SATSA which, whilst a quality association dedicated to providing and maintaining the highest possible standards of service within the South African tourism industry, does not provide adequate or comprehensive financial protection.

Company statements such as, "Bonding has long been a problem for African-based Tour Operators trying to attract international visitors, particularly those from Europe, which are protected by bonding agencies abroad. I am proud to announce that through our SATSA affiliation, we are now a bonded agency, completing the circle of a one stop travel shop to Africa” are misleading.

Although the bonding statement is true, what isn't stated is that this bonding is completely inadequate.

Each bonded company pays a mere R400 a year for cover. This provides a maximum of R1,500,000.00 cover to be shared by all travel companies and travellers within the industry(eg. natural disaster); a maximum of only R300,000.00 cover per unfortunate event(eg. airline financial failure); and a maximum of R75,000.00 cover for each individual traveller no matter what the claim. This is far from adequate cover for your holiday, unlike our comprehensive financial protection.
