The capital of Kampala, traditional home to the most populous ethnic group - the Baganda - has long been the largest city and today is home to around 1,2 million people.

For the traveller, the Nile-based adventure capital of Jinga, and Entebbe - home to Uganda's international airport, would be the only towns of real importance.
