Buganda Division Map

Buganda is a kingdom comprising of the 52 clans of the Baganda people; it's the largest of the traditional kingdoms in present-day Uganda.

The kingdom of Buganda originally comprised of four counties: Kyadondo, Busiro, Busujju, and Mawokota. During the colonial era, Buganda had remained a kingdom with special privileges. The kingdom was, however, relegated to provincial status in 1966 by the prime minister at the time (Apollo Obote). Today Buganda is divided among nine administrative districts.

The capital of Uganda, Kampala is situated within Buganda.
