Also known as Kabalega or Kabarega Falls, these falls were allegedly discovered by Sir Stanley Baker in 1864. At the top of Murchison Falls, the Nile forces its way through a seven-metre fissure of rock from which water stumbles and thrashes for forty metres. The result is the most powerful natural flow of water on earth.
Some visitors attest to having actually seen the rock shaking from the force of the water, but this could just as easily be the inverse: A result of 'shaking in awe' limbs making for unreliable theories on the movement or stillness of things.
The Nile drops 122 metres in three separate cascades, and you may catch a glimpse of a Nile perch being spat from the river. These huge fish weigh up to 100 kg and are strong enough to withstand the pressure.
