Hossam Hassan, born 10 August 1966 is considered one of the best Egyptian soccer players of all time.

He's played more international games and scored more goals than anyone in Egypt's football history.

As of 2006, he has a combined total of 170 caps for his country and has scored 80 goals. Hassan has played for A1-Ahly, PAOK FC, Neuchatel Xamax, A1 Aitn FC, A1-Zamalek, Masry and for the Egypt National Team.

Hossam Hassan holds numerous records including:

  • The oldest player to play an international match in Egyptian history (39 years, 5 months, 28 days vs Senegal 7th Feb 2006)
  • The oldest player to score an international goal in Egyptian history (39 years, 5 months, 24 days vs RD Congo 3rd Feb 2006)
  • The oldest player to score in the history of the African Nations Cup (39 years, 5 months, 24 days vs RD Congo 3rd Feb 2006)
  • The only player to win three African Cup of Nations titles (1986, 1998 & 2006)
  • He has participated in two African Cup of Nations Tournaments 20 years apart (1986 & 2006)
  • Holds the World 3rd & Highest Egyptian all time record of international goals (80)
  • Holds the second highest all time record of goals in Egyptian League, scoring 162 goals (2nd to Hassan El-Shazly)
  • Holds the Egyptian & African all time record of African Club Cup titles (6 titles)
