Roger Milla is a former Cameroon football player, who reached stardom at age 38 when he scored four goals for his team on their way to the 1990 FIFA World Cup™ quarter-finals.

Born in the Cameroonian capital of Yaoundé on 20 May 1952, Milla obtained many distinctions in the football world, including the Africa's Footballer of the year award in 1976 and the African Golden Ball.

Roger Milla moved to France in 1977 and spent two seasons at Valenciennes before being transferred to Monaco. He then played for Bastia, St. Etienne and Montpellier. He won the French cup with Monaco in 1980 and with Bastia in 1981 and collected a French Second division championship medal with St. Etienne.

After 152 goals in the French league, he retired to the French Reunion Islands, where he played for St Pierre, helping them to win the local league title in 1990.

With 81 full caps, Milla was tempted out of retirement in order to take part in his second FIFA World Cup™. Milla is the oldest man to score in the final competition of a FIFA World Cup. He was 42 when he scored against Russia in the 1994 FIFA World Cup™.

An itinerant ambassador for Cameroon and UNAIDS, Milla is tireless in his global efforts. In 2004 he was listed on the FIFA list of 125 greatest living footballers.
