Zambia is a prime destination for those who want to live life on the edge a little: its main activities are either based around its national parks and game reserves or the adrenalin-pumping activities of Victoria Falls.
The activities offered by the wildlife reserves depend on the reserve itself and its location. The numerous lodges of South Luangwa National Park offer game drives during the day as well as exciting night drives. This park is also famous for its walking trails during the dry season (June to November).
If you want to combine game drives with water-based activities, then head for either the Kafue National Park where the lodges often offer boat trips on the park's rivers or base yourself at the Lower Zambezi National Park where canoeing trips from the lodges are available along with boating.
Zambia is of course a top destination for those who wish to try any manner of adventure activities. The sleepy town of Livingstone is the base from which to organise a day careering down the foaming waters of the Zambezi River on a white water rafting trip, or to leap off a 111 metre bridge with a bungee cord attached to your ankles.
Virtually anything goes in Victoria Falls: try abseiling down the Zambezi's Batoka Gorge or horse riding through bush; jet boats or microlights, helicopters or kayaks - the range of activities at Victoria Falls will ensure that you can't complain of nothing to do.
