Zambia is a top destination for those who wish to try any manner of adventure activities: go careering down the foaming waters of the Zambezi River on a whitewater rafting trip, or to leap off a 111 metre bridge with a bungee cord attached to your ankles.

Virtually anything goes in Victoria Falls, try abseiling down the Zambezi's Batoka Gorge or an elephant-back safari through the bush; jet boats or microlights, helicopters or kayaks - the range of activities at Victoria Falls will ensure that you can't complain of nothing to do.

"One weekend, that's not very long," I thought as I glanced over my itinerary. But that was before viewing the Falls from both Zimbabwe and Zambia, zipping over a gorge, trundling along on an elephant and floating down the Zambezi. - Sandra Mallinson, 48 Hours in Victoria Falls (Aug. 2007).

The best time to see Victoria Falls is when the Zambezi is in full flood, from February to April, but in the months leading up to this (round September to December) you can swim in the Devil's Pool, on the brink on the Falls.
