In general, what attracts people to this African country is not the towns and cities, but rather the peaceful beauty of Zambia's parks and reserves.
About 40% of Zambia's population lives in urban areas, with 10% of the total population concentrated in Lusaka, the capital city. There aren't many of the usual tourist attractions here, but there's a lively night life, and some good markets where you can pick up both traditional crafts and modern goods.
Of all Zambia's towns, the best known to travellers is Livingstone, situated about 10km from Victoria Falls. Although Livingstone itself is not very large, it is the gateway for the Falls and surrounding areas, including the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park.
Other important towns include the hubs of the Copperbelt Province: Kitwe, Kabwe, Mufulira and Ndola, however, these are commercial centres rather than tourist towns.
