Zambia is divided into nine provinces for administrative purposes. However, when looking at Zambia from the point of view of travel, the country is more usefully divided into regions by their cities, wildlife reserves and industry.
The four regions of most interest to the traveller are the Lower Zambezi with the Lower Zambezi National Park, Kafue National Park, the Luangwa Valley and the Victoria Falls area.
Below is a list of Zambia's 9 provinces with their provincial capitals:
Central Province, Zambia - Kabwe (formerly Broken Hill)
Copperbelt Province - Ndola
Eastern Province, Zambia - Chipata (formerly Fort Jameson)
Luapula Province - Mansa (formerly Fort Rosebery)
Northern Province - Kasama
North-Western Province - Solwezi
Southern Province - Livingstone
