Zambia's wilderness is referred to by many as "the true bush experience" a fact that sinks in quite quickly when you find yourself in one of the country's many parks and reserves.

The South Luangwa teems with herds of animals the way much of Africa used to; Kafue National Park - Zambia's largest reserve - is well known for the vast Busanga Plains; and a canoe safari in the Lower Zambezi gives a unique perspective on the sheer size of elephant, buffalo and other wildlife which gathers on the river banks.

In addition to big game, Zambia's parks are well known for their outstanding birdlife, in fact the Lochinvar National Park has a bird species for every square kilometre!

Our Zambia wildlife guide also provides insight into the geology and environment of this landlocked country, as well as the involvement of local communities in conservation efforts.

Even Zambia's best known park, the South Luangwa National Park, has that raw edge of a true African wilderness untouched by mass tourism: three quarters of the park is still largely unexplored. - Sandra Mallinson, 'Off the Beaten Track in Africa', August 2008.
